Yeah some have trailers, some don't. Some of us that do, loan ours out to the ones that don't. No since in it just sitting there and not being used.

It's not set in stone, but most of the stalls as drawn are 10 wide x 15 long, with roughly 5x15 for the tack room. (If you can make out the gridlines, each of those squares is 5') So each stall+tack room is in a 15x15 square. In effect, I borrowed some room from a typical stall to make a tack room The two front end stalls are 15x15... stallion stalls perhaps.

One thing I would do is standardize the dimensions so that mats would fit without cutting. Mats are a pain to cut.

Do the stalls have outer gates too?

I can dream:') It would be so nice if we had gate codes instead of having to get out and unlock the gate, get back in, drive thru and get out and close the gate again going in and out:')

Well, as long as we are dreamin, this place would probably have codes... and two gates in the driveway so vehicles can come in and out, but loose horses always have a gate between them and the road.

Okay, get out your pencils and calculator. Think about construction costs first off unless you plan on winning a lottery.

Much of the items you are going to need come in 4'X 8'sections - plywood, paneling, drywall, etc. Then you have lumber coming in common lengths of 8' and 12'. When ever you change the dimensions from that, you are increasing the costs tremendously and will also have a lot of waste.

My suggestion would be to work with 4',8' and 12' lengths.

I must be really stingy, I wouldn't loan my trailer out to anyone. My husband gave it to me for my birthday and I'd be heartbroken if someone wrecked it.

Very good tip. I think when I drew this, I liked the easy math of laying it out with a square being 5', but it can easily be 4 :~D

If it was my drivable trailer with living quarters that I dream about , I might not but it's a cheapie (as far as horse trailers go) and the people I loan it to take responsibility. Actually the last time I loaned it out, a man re-wired my lights for me:')

The stall width could be any less than 10' though, so it'd either have to be 10 or bumped up to 12.

That was a nice thing for the man to do.

My trailer isn't the most expensive trailer you can buy, but it's not really a cheapie, either. It's a 4Star bumper pull, 3 horse slant with lots of padding and a manger. Exactly what I wanted and something my husband and I had talked about probably a year before he bought it. I had no idea he was cooking this up until he took me outside, with my eyes covered, on my birthday. It had a big purple bow on it.

I would bump it to 12' - The extra two feet really come in handy if you have to work in the stall, doctoring a horse or sedating one, etc.

Consider making a seperate room on one end of the barn, or one at each end that is a tack room, then put large cupboards with locks on them for each boarder. That way, you gain the space between stalls that you are allocating to a boarder and which will stand empty if there is no board horse in that stall. Most important though, that is way too serious a fire hazard. Aside from storing tack, boarders are going to be storing supplies to clean tack and horses, and heaven knows what else.
