The joke about Hillary was not funny, nor were his comments about rape.

This guy is not much of a comedian if he has to resort to rape jokes.

"Later he made a comment that Hillary Clinton should be raped and assassinated. When again the room was silent, he said that "OK, maybe we should assassinate her first then rape her.""

IMO, not funny at all, and if that's a sample of his humor, I wouldn't pay a nickle to keep his comedic "talent" alive, first amendment rights or not.

As much as I dislike sHillary, and as crude as I can sometimes be, I think this was over the line, if the LTE was truthful.

Even though Freepers hate Hillary, that joke was out of line for anybody.

I just KNEW by the tone and cadence that the author of the editorial was a woman before I even got to the end.

"It was not that his humor was too dark but that violent crimes against women are just not funny."

Violent crimes against men, however, are hilarious. Anybody recall the smiles, chuckles and field day women had with jokes after the Lorainna Bobbitt episode?

I disagree. Clinton's are bound by no lines when they are dishing it out-why should lines be respected when they are getting it back?

It's the office of the President that deserves respect. Hillary is scum, but by law she gets derivative Secret Service protection. All ex first ladies get it...and it's a potential crime to suggest assassination of a first lady.

Therein is the issue. We are supposed to take it they are supposed to complain. The comedian's comments were out of line no matter the political persuasion. We all got our shorts in a twist when the loudmouth for England made his "John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald where are you...?" comment. The S.S. though may be going to the extreme.

I was in attendence and this club and the comedian is known for incorrect humor. In fact he even asked the audience if he could tell a joke on the subject matter and if one person says no, he passes on the joke. Instead he was encouraged by the audience and they laughed their ass off.

Secondly, it was not a mean joke about the "R" word and the "A" word, the punch line was what was important which basically inferred that one would partake once the body warmed up.

There’s actually some legal precedent concerning statements like his. Back in a 1971 interview, Groucho Marx told a magazine, “I think the only hope this country has is Nixon’s assassination.”

Groucho was not arrested and tried for the statement. Intrigued by the fact that a prominent Black Panther Party leader had been indicted for saying much the same thing, author Paul Krassner wrote the Justice Department for an explanation.

The response from U.S. Attorney James L. Browning Jr. merits reprinting here. “The United States Supreme Court has held that Title 18 U.S.C., Section 871, prohibits only ‘true’ threats. It is one thing to say that “‘I (or we) will kill Richard Nixon’ when you are the leader of an organization which advocates killing people and overthrowing the Government; it is quite another to utter the words which are attributed to Mr. Marx, an alleged comedian.”

Browning and the Los Angeles U.S. Attorney felt that Groucho’s statement didn’t meet the level of a “true” threat.

The joke will never be told and you had to be there to understand. It was humor, just really dark humor.

"and it's a potential crime to suggest assination of a first lady."

Especially so with First (barf) Lady Hillary. I will never forget the MSM reaction to the incident on National TV when her opponent in the NY Senate race, threatened her with a sheet of paper. That bully!

I prefer to refer to Hillary as "The X, First Whatchamacaller".

Very interesting. I was hoping we would have a first-person account. FReepers Rock, because we are everywhere! BTW - that does put a slightly different spin on it - although still tasteless, somewhat less offensive. But really folks, if you go to a comedy club, can you truthfully expect to not hear anything offensive?

So, in other words, that's she's so cold-hearted that room temperature would be higher than her usual body temperature?

Honestly, I can't say whether this crosses the line or not - not to be copping out, but a lot depends on the tone/delivery.

"Had the joke been about W, they wouldn't have said a word."

Actually, the secret service takes all threats very seriously. This was part of a comedy act and not really a threat...just a very lame joke. Actually. the thought of Hillary naked makes me (and Bill) sick.

You said it, not me...

It was Humor. The main reason I brought this to the attention of the board is that Chris is only one of a few Right Wing Conservative Comedians. He has performed with the Right Stuff comedy tour for the RNC and has been featured on Fox, CNN and in the New York Times for his strong conservative views.

Once, Chris offered to take a bullet for Kerry, had Hillary been his runningmate...

I too agree with the Doctor, what kind of person pokes fun at rape and assassination? Nevermind wishing it upon someone!
