Queen of Lights
We celebrate Lucia day on December the 13th. The day was named after a young girl living in a small village in Syracuse, Sicily. Lucia became a martyr in the 4th century AD, because of her Christian faith.
Lucia was engaged to a man who was not of the Christian faith. He became angry with her beacuse she gave money to poor families.
Lucia was sentenced to die by fire, but the fire did not harm Lucia. So they took her life by a sword instead.

Happy Santa Lucia Day!

I haven't tried it yet. I'm going to look for some Raspberry chocolate chips so I can try it before Christmas.

Thanks for the info on St. Lucia. As they say, No man is an island -- in the Caribbean.

Cookies are almost ready, have a cup of cocoa while we wait.
Favorite Hot Cocoa
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup hot water
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
4 cups milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix cocoa, sugar, water and salt in a saucepan. Over medium heat, stir constantly until mixture boils. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
Stir in the milk and heat, but do not boil. Remove from heat and add vanilla; blend well. Top with whipped cream.
Serve immediately.
Makes 4 servings.
Happy Hot Cocoa Day!
