You didn't read my post. I don't have a problem with prayer requests, it's the posted prayers that to me seem insincere. And like I said, I'm sure those who do it are sincere about it, but I would be uncomfortable doing it.

I meant ALL "new Freeper" vanities;the ones about babies and the damned newbie members, who imagine that they are oh sooooooooooooooo "special". LOL I plead guilty to that, back when I was a newbie! This new-fangled chat forum didn't exist then, but I still got (quite rightly) flamed by at least a few. :-)

I see no harm is this vanity not being tucked under the rug. Do you? There are a lot of newbies here who seem to want to talk out the issues. It's the new Conservative newbies who are taking our place, and they deserve to hear everything we have to say. If we shut them up in a little room called chat, they won't learn.

They should learn the way we did....I lurked for almost a full year before I joined up. By that time,I knew the "inside jokes",the code words,if you will, who made sense, who didn't,and the rules.
Now,people join and immediately post some damned banal, inane, moronic vanity to News/activism.

Well then, I don't understand why you don't know why we're using excerpts. You must obviously not been paying attention to that part of FR. I can't explain all that has happened, and all that you have missed in one post. But keep in touch, buddy, and I'll explain what has happened best I can.
The upshot is that the major newspapers didn't like us reprinting entire articles, threatened to sue, and so on. So we excerpt. That's the short story, my friend.

Did you really? On my "What do you say to people who ask 'So when are you getting married?'" thread? *LOL*
I only remember the nickname of one person who flamed me, and though we've never posted to each other again, over time I've noticed we seem pretty much on the same wavelength.

Yes,we usually ARE in full and complete accord. :-)
To: Dec31,1999
Give me a break, will ya'. I have noticed snips in article that did not require excerpting. There are snips in articles that do require it, I'm sure. but many are snipping for another reason, and I'm not sure why.
Did you have to get "snippy" about it?
Does that make you feel smart?
