Gavin wasn't injured in Iraq. He is stationed in Germany and is a mechanic on armoured personnel carriers. His foot was crushed when a piece of track fell over onto him. The doctors say he will have full use of his foot again, but it will take months to completely heal.

I have always wondered why some celebrate and open presents on Christmas Eve and others on Christmas Day.Why not wait until Epiphany (Jan 6 - Twelfth Day) and celebrate that arrival of the Magi? It also has the advantage of making it possible to buy your gifts at the after Christmas sales.

Thanks for that Aesop's fables link. I think I'll find a lot of good reading there. I've bookmarked it.

I'm glad he's able to come home (USA) and see his Aunt. I kknow that's been heavy on your mind, and I hope you (and she) can hang in there. I'm also glad he is going to be all right.
I'm going to correct you.....so don't get upset now.....some things appear to be getting worse every year. You, on the other hand, appear to get feistier and nicer at the same time....and that's good!
Update: Phil (Shark Jr.) is supposed to report for training on Dec. 29.
