I was in New Orleans over the weekend and saw carolers in Jackson Square singing traditional carols, it was lovely. Also, a couple of my favorite mini-malls down there had carolers, too. It was all very festive and Christmasy :)

A Brrrrrr cold front moved in over the weekend, supposed to hang around all week and suddenly the sunny south feels more like your part of the country. :) It is sunny and beautiful but good grief, its c-c-c-c-cold.

It is going to be 15° here tonight. I suppose you are just like my sister in Breaux Bridge who calls and complains that the temp is plummeting to the low forties? LOL

Well, I have to confess that I've been guilty of that, too, on occasion.... but this is a real cold snap, hard freeze predicted. They're talking lows for the next few nights at 33, 23, 29, 36,.... dangit, I forget how to make that little o to indicate degree. Thats cold for this part of the world especially when last week the daytime temps hovered near 80 and the even temps were in the mid 60s. I saw half the women in town at the cleaners this morning getting their furs out of cold storage. LOL

Oh you poor dears, a hard freeze? You and my sister just break my heart. LOL I have decided to wear my mink coat tonight even if it is just to attend my four year old grandson's Christmas program. I cannot take the cold, I cannot.

You should wear it, heck, thats what they're for. When its cold, I wear them with everything. I just hadn't planned on needing for the various parties this week.

Strippers' Gifts Denied by Housing Project

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A public housing complex in North Carolina wasn’t feeling the holiday spirit last week when the manager turned away what many boys and girls wish for this time of year – Christmas presents.

That’s because in this case, “Santa” takes her clothes off for cash.

Last year, an adult nightclub called Teasers (search) donated more than 500 gifts to kids in public housing for the holidays.

But a newspaper photo of the presents being delivered prompted so many complaints from residents in the Bible Belt community that this year the local housing project is turning down the offer.

"They showed up with the gifts in a stretch limo with two of their dancers in the back," Statesville Housing Authority manager David Meachem said.

But now members of the community are criticizing the housing authority for being too judgmental during the holidays.

The pastor at the First Baptist Church said it's within the spirit for people of different backgrounds to come together and help the less fortunate.

And the manager at Teasers agrees.

“When somebody donates something, you don’t ask what they do or where they came from. It’s just given as a gift. It’s charitable,” said Traci Wahman, club manager.

The housing authority insists it already has enough gifts to go around this year, donated by churches throughout the community.
