Scuse me for being naive, but I am not of the opinion that our next big hit will be by "ME" looking people. You need to think out of the box. That was the same box the airlines were in before 9/11, thinking that any hijacking was a ploy to fly somewhere else. Do what El Al does.
Let people who fly frequently submit to a full background check and then give them a pass on security.
That lets the people at the airport concentrate on the 20% or 30% that are not frequent travelers.
They only need to be screened for metalic objects like knives and guns.
The physical searches are a joke.
A complete waste of time.
Anyone who wants to blow up a plane can carry enough C4 or Semtex in body cavities to do the job.
They could also allow all law enforcement and military officers to travel armed.

That sounds alright by me. After being throughly investigated and issued an ID with fingerprint recognition capabilities, one could just breeze through security.
But, you would still have complaints from those who don't want the government to know much about them.
