I think Laura has it wrong on this one. She shouldn't encourage this odious behavior. These types must come to realize the effect of alienating 51% of the movie going population. If they supported candidates privately or in person, where they would be available to the contrary position, that would be different.

They however get behind the microphone and broadcast their opinions with no chance of refutation by the opposite side, i.e.Freepers... In essence saying hear me loyal bumpkins, and I don't need to hear you.

I refuse to support any actor or entertainer that uses their celebrity status to subvert my beliefs and political causes. Of course that means less movie theaters and cds but all movies eventually are free on cable TV.

Well, as my sister 'The Sister' says, "you can offer it up!" Thanks for taking one for the team!

My husband and I didn't go to the Jimmy Buffet concert in San Diego that we had been looking forward to all year, just because it said in the ads that $1 from every ticket would go to Vote for Change. We also heard later that the concert was full of campaign rhetoric, so we made the right decision. STFU & SING

My anniversary is tomorrow night. My wife and I are going out to a movie after dinner. She wants to see "Shall we Dance". If it wasn't our anniversary, there's no way I'd go see a movie with Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez, and Susan Sarandon - but a husband has got to do what a husband has got to do. I'll even have to refrain from making nasty comments about the actors and say I liked the movie when it is done. But, my wife is worth it. She gets what she wants.

I wholeheartedly agree! I now see past their talent and am sickened to the worst degree. I can't even stand Springsteen anymore - I can hear the Liberalism in his voice. When one of these idiots comes on TV I change the channel ASAP to avoid thowing up.

I really had a hard time watching Finding Nemo with my kids, thanks to Ellen Degeneres doing the voice of one of the characters. I had an even harder time explaining why I was having a hard time watching it. Thankfully, she didn't get the opportunity to turn comedy into activism in the movie (i.e., she didn't get the chance to ruin it, like she did her TV sitcom.)

To: Fishface; .45MAN

.45MAN and I have not stepped foot in a movie theater, with the exception on seeing The Passion (three times) since elections 2000.

Since hollywierd wants to control my mind, I have decided to have nothing at all to do with it.

It has been a *very* satisfying and liberating experience.

Can you put aside your disdain aside and enjoy the entertainment for what it is or are you, like me, incapable of differentiating anymore?

I started differentiating a long time ago. I refuse to support people who offend my moral, religous or family values.

Depends on who it is. There are actors who I didn't like to see in films that had nothing to do with their politics. Some I've since warmed up to (or at least seen them turn in a performance that I liked even if I hate everything else they are in).

Some I used to like and they just wore out their welcome over time (Robin Williams would be one of them).

Then there are some like Alec Baldwin who I just absolutely cannot watch anymore. I thought the Shadow was alright when I saw it and liked Miami Blues. When I saw Miami Blues years later, I wondered just how much that performance showed how evil Alec could be (recall his outburst on Conan O'Brian about killing a member of Congress and his family). He is seriously deranged.

In general I take the notion of defunding the left. A boycott works.

You may even find yourself watching the film for free at some point (Netflix charges by the month, cable shows the films whether you watch them or not, same with broadcast). You may find yourself turned off by the casting as you actually sit and watch it.

Tank the films at the boxoffice; let Hollywood know that some names spell boxoffice poison. Hollywood learned that much of America will still avoid a film that casts Jane Fonda.

I make an exception for Johnny Depp - he is talented enough that I can ignore his occasional anti-American rantings ("Finding Neverland" is a great movie, BTW).

Most of the others, I ignore - especially if they are in a film that has explicit or implicit anti-American messages.
