I was prowling around the Extensions downloads for FF earlier...there's one to move tabs around on about the second or third page. I haven't tried it as I'm trying to keep things lean and mean for an ancient puter, and it's not something that I would really use even if I wasn't keeping it as streamlined as I can. While FF has a rather nasty (IMO, and it may just be my slow puter) tendency to slow down when playing one MIDI and trying to dl another, that's about the only thing I can find wrong with it. I've learned to love tabbed browsing, it's overall speed and sleek appearance, and a plugin to answer all of my dearest hopes called Down Them All. If you commonly check MIDI sites and grab a lot, or any sort of e-texts, this thing will save you so much time and hassle. I strongly urge you to update to the latest version and try again...I was a fervent IE supporter til I tried this and they made a believer out of me.
But... tabs on top? How counterintuitive is that?

Which version are you using?
I normally mostly navigate by mouse so to me, it really wasn't, considering the proximity to the browser controls. I actually found it to be quite handy placement, but that's a matter of personal preference...to each their own.
Not sure if anyone's interested but I made a search plugin for opensecrets.org
Haven't tested it too much and mainly what I did was take the yahoo search and edited it's values and parameters.
Tested it slightly and it worked for me.

If anyone wants to try it. There it is.
Unfortunately, if you force the sixe of a table in pixels, you'll often create problems unless you force all text sixes in pixels (an act which, in and of itself, is annoying especially for crazy guys like me who run high resolutions on not-overly-huge monitors).
Not at all. In fact, my program tabs are on top of the screen as well.
"To each his own," totally agreed. Since you already have IE, why not try Avant?
I'll probably try FF again, the testimonials (such as yours) are appealing... but I ask myself, "Since Avant works well, I'm used to it, and it does everything I expect; and since Ff doesn't and won't, what would I gain?"
I think for some (obviously not you) it's just that they feel about Bill Gates what Michael Moore about George Bush. Not my issue; easy to peg rocks at the top dog.
Thanks for your thoughts... and get yourself a better pc when you can! (c8

That has been my impression for several years, but I am confused by the constant drumbeat of people saying MS is the nonstandard one.
I don't do much HTML coding, but about three years ago I got the task of reconciling font sizes and graphic element placement for IE, Netscape and Opera for a rather sophisticated site. IE seemed to do what you told it in the area of font sizes and alignment of elements in tables. But everyone told me that IE broke all the rules. I have always been confused by that.
