Stop frightening yourself, Quix. God wants us to be happy and secure in His promise to protect the faithful. He doesn't play word games with His elect. He created them and everything else for His glory. His glory is not enhanced by confusion, anxiety and trepidation.
To fear dreams and signs is to doubt that God abides with all who love Him. I'll pray He gives you discernment and the peace which comes from knowing all that is accomplished is of Him.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." -- John 10:27-29."My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Want to be the prophet?
Only to the degree one might WANT to fulfill a hazardous mission if God ordered them on it!
Anyone WANTING to be a prophet ought to have their heads examined! LOL.
No, my habit is to put this stuff on a shelf. Maybe I get some other discerning input and log in some marks accordingly. But I wait to see what GOD takes off the shelf and confirms.
I told you to pick whatever you wanted. I'm interested in such exercises as much as the next person.
I think the whole prophetic area in Christendom is a sorry mess. There's the real authentic God breathed mixed up with a lot of learning disasters as well as some mere human shyster stuff and then some counterfeit stuff from hell. I don't waste my time doing a lot of detailed sorting. I wait to see what God confirms, affirms, fulfills.
But I do think that a group of authentic believers with some gifts and discernment could do The Body and at least themselves some good service doing SOME prayerful discussing and sorting of some dreams and visions.
You folks have disqualified yourselves by definition.
You presume that I'm fearful of dreams!
I don't know that I'd say I ALWAYS
have 0.00000% fear in my life on all issues in all respects.
But God has delivered me of a lot of it!
No, I find Holy Spirit breathed dreams of whatever topic exciting as examples of God's glory, power, majesty etc.
And, to some degree, as a collector of puzzle pieces, it is sometimes interesting to sort through the pieces and try and discern the signal from the noise.
Very well. What is going to occur on the 27th then according to someone's dream? Is this about the president? If so, that will be easy enough to wait and see.
Scary Stuff.
I've been saying that one day, some zealot, towelhead, Islam-crazed, scum will use the World Trade Center as ground zero and detonate a small, thermonuclear device which will waste 12 million people in less than a minute. There are hundreds of these nutcases running around wanting to meet Allah through some suicidal act. Hey, line up pork eaters, and my M16 can help that wish come true real damned quick.
Now, someone else agrees with that scenario, and he's closer to it than I ever was.
Okay here it is. Not too specific unlike a true prophecy. Can you pick a month using your impressions and DNA spiritual feelings in your bones?
I just want some peace and quiet for the first ten thousand years!
Don't think my dreams have anything to do with terrorist attacks. But, I am unusually depressed. Perhaps because of the nature of the prophetic dreams I had before 9/11 my consciousness can't deal with it.
Amazingly, you do sound a bit mislead, though.
One of the purposes of this thread was to ENCOUAGE PRAYER SUCH THAT THE WARNINGS GOD GAVE FOR JUDGMENT MIGHT BE PREVENTED OR LESSENED.
And, particularly to pray regarding warnings about the President that he and his family and close advisors be safe.
Prayer changes things.
Perhaps you've heard.
I am doubting dreams, feelings, impressions and other non-biblical prophetic utterances.
False prophets conveniently leave "outs". Do you have anything concrete that you have faith in or not? How about the rest of your followers? Let one step up if there is a real one among you.
Not really.
I do believe in the short term, that, given sufficient prayers, he will be protected--at least through the first couple of years of his next term. I think that's the most hazardous time. But I don't really have any strong sense about it at all. Just subtle nuancy stuff.
Anything you'd care to post or freepmail me?
Understand about the heavy feeling. Most of the super discerning people I know have been feeling that recently.
Your allegation is unBiblical.
Many, many prophecies in the Bible are cryptic and vague.
God seems to prefer them that way part of the time. Probably something about pearls before swine or some such.
Many are not to clue in the enemy or for unbelievers but for believers to SEEK GOD about and get His input directly to them about it.
So? Don't you think we all have worries? Yours is no different. You want to say that YOU have had prophetic dreams and encourage others to say so too, for your own vanity when all you have is anxiety. The Lord said in Jeremiah, YE are the cause of your dreams not Him, and as we know, Scripture never lies.
In post 427 you wrote you thought D Edmund Joaquin was a Calvinist. You never asked me for my denomination, and I never gave it to you.
You seem to be inquiring about it, however, so I'll tell you I am a Presbyterian, born and raised. And I am thankful to God everyday for opening my eyes to His Word and for giving me His unmerited gift of grace whose outward sign is faith in Jesus Christ.
Faith is evidence of God's grace, not a requirement for it.
And I am thankful for the faith of the Apostles, and of the great Reformers as described by Augustine, Calvin, Luther, Zwingli, Baez, John Knox, William Law, Philip Schaff, R.C. Ryle, John Owen, John Gill, John Newton, John Bunyan, John Murray, John Flavel, John Robbins, A.A. Hodge, Charles Hodge, F.B. Meyer, William Gurnall, Matthew Henry, Jeremiah Buroughs, Richard Baxter, Stephen Charnock, Jonathan Edwards, D. Martin Lloyd Jones, David Brainerd, Thomas Goodwin, George Whitefield, Charles Spurgeon, B.B. Warfield, A.W. Pink, Francis Schaeffer, John Piper, Sinclair B. Ferguson, D. James Kennedy, Charles Stanley, A.W. Criswell, J. P. Green, Gordon Clark, Loraine Boettner, J.R. Rushdooney, Ian Murray, J. Gresham Machen, Charles Swindoll, J.I. Packer, Jay Adams, Millard J, Erickson, Gordon Lewis, Lewis Sperry Chafer, Gregory Bahnsen...
I, like the majority of signers to the Declaration of Independence and the majority of U.S. Presidents, gratefully call myself a Calvinist, by His grace, for His glory.
It is all of Him and none of us.
HOHOHO,
We are all quite real!
Perhaps whether you want us to be, or not!
I don't think it's precisely time for the prophetic to be as predictable as a lot of us would like. I think God is still playing things pretty close to His chest.
There will come a time when a child even will say thus and so and it will happen instantly or precisely to the second when it is declared it will happen.
I'm waiting for that time. But not too eagerly. I believe it will be severe birth pangs time when it arrives.
I guess when Elijah called out the prophets of Baal, he was just joking. After all, God plays things pretty close to His chest. Maybe fire will come down from heaven, maybe it won't. Maybe God will be in the bathroom when Elijah needs him and won't respond. Maybe when Elijah calls for the rain to stop, maybe it will, maybe it won't. Ha Ha Ha.
I rebuke that accusation in the name of Jesus.
It's simply and brazenly untrue.
Thankfully, God knows it is!
As do the more discerning folks hereon, PTL!
It amazes me that you haven't the logic something to know when Scripture is talking about situation (A) vs situation (B) vs situation (C) etc. You persist in horrid use of Scripture about a particular case trying to foist it off on people as generic for all remotely related situations for all time.
And you want us to have faith in how you handle The Bible?
What silliness! What ghastly pretense!
Ahhhh.
I guess my discernment is not as askew as you'd like to think!
