"It's not memorable lines that count in debates."
Hmmm, how about these?
"Are you better off today than you were four years ago?", and
"There you go again".
-Ronald Reagan to Jimmy Carter, 1980
"I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience."
-Ronald Reagan to Walter Mondale, 1984
"Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy."
Lloyd Bentsen to Dan Quayle, 1988
pointing out a screw-up (the entire Carter Administration)
"There you go again".
Pointing out a screw up.
"Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy."
Pointing out a screw-up.
I laughed out loud when I heard this. I hope Rush or Sean play it over and over. Kind of reminds me of "I don't fall down".
"Unfortunately, I think Kerry won the Korea Debate. Bush delved into convoluted terms and should have kept it simple. All he had to say was that North Korea lied and cheated for 8 years during "bilateral talks"; 6-party talks will keep nK more honest."
I agree that Bush didn't keep it simple (not everyone know what bi-lateral and multi-lateral means), but I believe he still won that part.
The screw ups were not in the debate.
