Hi Darkchylde!

Isn't she a wonderful poet? I love her work. I don't understand what you mean in your last sentence. Will you elaborate please?

Because
by Sarah Teasdale

Oh, because you never tried
To bow my will or break my pride,
And nothing of the cave-man made
You want to keep me half afraid,
Nor ever with a conquering air
You thought to draw me unaware --
Take me, for I love you more
Than I ever loved before.

And since the body's maidenhood
Alone were neither rare nor good
Unless with it I gave to you
A spirit still untrammeled, too,
Take my dreams and take my mind
That were masterless as wind;
And "Master!" I shall say to you
Since you never asked me to.

In the area I live in, very little beauty exists in art anymore. The music
stores sell stuff like Korn or Slipknot & are basically run by teenagers
who couldn't care less about what you're looking for, though my "cute"
looks have gotten some of the guys to actually TRY. These teens are
also the kind who have no idea who the Beatles are unless you start
reciting something like "I am the Walrus...". Then they say something
to the effect of "Oh, yeah. My parents listen to them." Basically, I'd
never be able to find any of her work (or that of any other poet worth
reading) around here. It's a real shame too...

Very, I'd estimate my town's population to be about... 50.
Not counting cows of course. I've told quite a few people
it's possible to walk through the town in about 5 mins.

I did that once, got a whole bunch of junk with it. People
who changed the nature of their pages (ie turning it into
a fanpage for someone or something) without changing
the name of the site. Getting sites with quotes by various
people, anything but what I was really looking for. I
haven't bothered looking lately.

I recognize very few names... the first being Elizabeth Barret Browning.

Yeah, alas I never got to read very much of her work in school. I always had
to read a poem by someone with whom I was less than impressed. Those
wonderful new "improved by the state" English books that had terrible abstract
poetry, like the museums that are now showing terrible abstract art. It's "better".

Oh I hate most of that new stuff in colleges and poetry magazines. I stopped reading it a long time ago. Nothing like the Classics.

I hate it too, but while at school
(my "fine, christian" school) I
was kinda forced to read it. I'd
complain to the teacher & would
be told I needed a well rounded
view of poetry & english... stuff.

Good nite poets

May the sweet aroma of Lily of the Valley
fill your dreams
caress your face
tenderly lull you to sleep
in the safety of knowing love...

~ Dream a Little ~ Love a Lot ~

I remember the color your hair was...
the color of spiced rum
With memories of you
walking without me
in gentle oriental rain
Left me with dreams
of being lost in your embrace.
The peace in your eyes
shone through
I was lost, lost
in your eyes
..........lost
in your embrace...
Dreams of you at Indian Twilight...

Thank You for Being Our Heroes and Friends

Thank you for being our heroes and friends,
Having the courage to make us secure.
A child needs someone attentive and strong
Nearby to be certain that nothing is wrong.
Kids can get frightened and like to be sure.
You are the saviors, unselfish and pure,
On whom our bright vision of fortune depends,
Unstained as our innocence, peaceful and long.
