True. I love Rush, but the man hasn't done well in the marriage department. And Marta was hot!
LOL.
It may be boring to watch, but do you think the players care? I'd wager that not one of the Anti-girlie men posting on this thread could keep up with the soccer player for 5 minutes. They're in awesome physical condition.
Is it the lack of violence in the game that causes male freepers to post comments about soccer playing "girlie men". You know, girlie man is kind of a funny epithet coming out of Arnie's mouth (the Austrian accent, I guess), but all the freepers picking up on it and using it makes the user come across as a girlie man Arnie wannabe.
That the game isn't well suited to TV is not a problem with the game, it's reflective of our attention span. It brought us the DH in baseball (good pitching and defense are no match for more runs being scored), and the constant rule changes to make it easier for the offense to score in football (American style). Talk about girlie men, the qb on a football team is 5x more girlie man than your typical soccer player. The qb wears all those pads and still cries when he gets hit and tells the refs to throw the flag. LOL.
And I don't even like soccer.
Good analogy.
I won't let my daughter date a soccer player, unless, he is the kicker for football or plays football.
Not like the mean old days when I grew up. You had to try out for sports and if you weren't in the top group, you went and played soccer with the other loosers.
Rugby players eat their dead. (Irish Hurling is a close second to Rugby on the list of "real man sports." American football probably doesn't even make the top five list.)
No way. Ever seen a 6'4, 335 pound soccer player? Didn't think so.
Real football is American Football. Soccer's for Euroweenie homos.
To defend soccer, at least play is more or less continuous, unlike American football where there is a 30-40 second lull between every play. And watching international soccer is much more interesting than watching league play, and don't get me started on the MLS, I'd rather get a root canal. But when the world's best players are playing, it can be mesmerizing to watch.
So if the game isn't played by 6'4" 335 lb men, it's a Euroweenie homo sport?
Tell that to the ice hockey players. Hope you like the taste of your teeth.
Please, please....the soccer hooligans are coming out of the woodwork!!!! A friend of mine married a Brit and now loves soccer, idiot.
Compared to 10 years ago, hockey players today are much larger. And unlike soccer, when a hockey player takes a cheap shot he doesn't whine to the ref (other than maybe a glance at him) he stalks the guy who did it and cracks his skull.

Is "Aristotal" the famed student of Ploto?
I wasn't saying a word about hockey. We're comparing football and soccer.
Ice hockey players should have a lot of time sit around and chew the fat about the merits of soccer this coming fall, winter & spring.
Mamas, don't let your baby girls grow up to date Soccer players!! It's just not right!!
If I had to pick a sport, especially one that is not popular, especially on TV, where the players are in top physical condition, far beyond other sports, I would pick Water Polo.
A regulation water polo pool is at least 8 feet deep and at no time are you allowed to touch the bottom or sides. For a good portion of the game you are carrying a guy on your back, and if you play the hole (the position centered infront of the goal) you not only have to carry the guy for half the game minimum, but he is also constantly beating on you.
The level of violence in water polo is entirely hidden by the water. It is a brutal game and would cause most people to have a heart attack if they tried to play it with skilled players, let alone the elite players.
Soccer players are nothing more than "grass fairies".
I'm pretty sure that Aristotal was the first Greek accountant.
Still laughing. So I was right, it's the lack of violence in the game that condemns soccer to the realm of "girlie men".
