I think so. I was the one with the ropes, whips, and bag of chickens. :^)
"By definition a GIRLY-MAN"
I may be a Girly-Man, but I'm a Girly-Man with all of his teeth.
There's just no pleasing some people. I guess being "human" and having "desire" immediately casts one off to Hell. Meh, at least I hear they have good barbeque there....
*Handing over spare asbestos suit*
Are you stating a fact, or bragging? ;)
I want my kids to be good and decent. That reflects well on my family and faith. Even PG-13 rated movies are filled with absolute garbage. If you have ever seen Austin Powers Goldmember or The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy you cannot tell me that these movies don't deserve an R rating.
Defensive, aren't we ?
Porn is essentially glamourized evil. For every Jenna Jameson who seems to come out on top there are 1000 crack heads, suicides, etc. People who are chewed up and spit out by this industry that they will never, ever leave behind long after the money is spent. Wherever you go and whatever you do you will be "ex-porn performer", long after the money has been spent.
You cannot nourish evil within yourself and remain a good parent.
Okay, I was GOING to make a really bad joke about najida, myself, and the bag of chickens here, but I thought better of it. ;^)
Like I said...
In the winter of her life, when health and beauty are forever gone, prayerfully she may find Jesus. For it is never to late, just think Mary Magdeline!!
Innocence is something we can't wait to lose and then spend the rest of our lives longing for it.
Kids innocence needs to be protected at all costs. The longer it is intact, the healthier their spirits (IMHO).
Hey, I have my vices, I admit it. I like to gamble. I enjoy martinis and cigars. I consider lap dances to be a good time and porn to be an excellent source of entertainment.
However, all of these things are done in moderation. IMHO, the people who are claiming that porn turns a person into a slavering sex-monster are engaging in a wee bit of projection.
"Okay, I was GOING to make a really bad joke about najida, myself, and the bag of chickens here"
And you're just the Freeper to pull that off. ;)
America has significantly deeper and worse problems than I could have ever imagined...moral bankruptcy has led us to the left as a nation, including the GOP.
Simply indefensible, and incredibly shallow.
This is only true if the person doing the "bad" activity is unaffected by it, which is never true. It is also never true that your children will only be affected by parts of your life, as somehow distinct from your general moral character. Just because you are UNAWARE of a distinct affect says NOTHING about whether or not that effect exists or not.
We could argue all day over whether it is good or bad for mommy and daddy to watch porn, but you can't seriously argue that, all other things being equal, the act of watching porn has no moral content whatsoever, that watching sex is morally neutral.
If it is not morally neutral, then the couple who watches is -- somehow, whether we can define the difference or quantify it is irrelevant to this argument -- the couple who watches is morally different than the couple who does not watch. That difference wil affect their children in some fashion. How it affects them, and how much, is another question.
Similarly, you might drink too much occasionally. By LOGIC ALONE, you are not, in that specific area, morally indistinct from the person who does not so indulge. There is some difference between the two of you -- whether we know what it is says nothing about whether it exists or not.
It also is not relevant that you might, by dint of other virtues, be an overall better parent than the one who does not indulge. This is entirely possible.
This difference between the two of you -- how can you argue with any certainty that it does not touch your children's lives in some way you do not yet see?
You can't. And human experience argues that children and parents alike FREQUENTLY discover, later in life, some effect (good and bad) they did not perceive at the moment it was was CREATED.
Since we know there is a significant number of effects that are not perceived until later, then by logic alone, we must ASSUME, whether we perceive it or not, that ALL my character traits, good or bad, and all my moral choices, good or bad, will touch my children's lives in some way I mayonly discover 20 years from now. Or they may discover after I am dead.
Materiality is a separate discussion.
Here's one: YOUR SIN AFFECTS EVERYONE IN YOUR LIFE!
~~sigh~~
Gives a whole new meaning to "Chicken 'n Dumplin's'.
Nothing whatsoever. AFAIK, it is a crime everywhere in this country to expose kids to porn. However, that does not mean that grown-ups should only engage in g-rated activities even if no kids are around.
Parents can engage in adult-only activities and still keep their kids innocent.
You must be a materialist.
