Contra Costa county is the only one banning the .50 cal rifle.

Sorry to hear about this. Still, I have written off California a long time ago. Let the gun grabbers have their way out there as an example of what can happen in the rest of the country. Sadly, I think California is too far gone for anything else.
To: PinnedAndRecessed
I think they need to show a case of where a .50BMG has repeatedly been used for a crime before they try and outlaw it,actually i'd like to see ONE instance where a .50BMG has been used in the commission of a crime in the US
To: PinnedAndRecessed
Lesson for the rest of us as well.
And those DMF'ing 40% or so of gun owners who will vote for John Kerry, who voted to ban .30-30 ammo.

the demonetization of the 30-30 rifle cartridge has got to the WORST trick the democrats have tried to pull on the American people. IF they can BAN on 30 caliber rifle round then they can ban them ALL! Next will be 270 win., 30-06 Spfld,7mm Rem. Mag,.308,300win mag,.338 Lapua Mag., .338 win.,7.62mm,300rem ultra mag. and so on. Then once those rounds are banned they will try to ban ALL Centerfire cartridges! there goes your shotguns folks! thats right shotgun is Centerfire, i believe they already tried to ban Centerfire cartridges but it got shot-down, but once they get a foot hold and ban a couple calibers its ALL over!
To: Remington Rebel
The ".30-30" ban was actually all centerfire ammo that the Attorney General(ala Seth Waxman or Eric Houlder under a Kerry presidency) considers 'armor piercing bullets'.
Ted Kennedy demonized the .223 and the .30-30 in his speech. That's why I call it the .30-30 ban since that one goes straight to any gunowner's heartstrings.
And maybe the Elmer Fudds of the world will wake up.

Forgot to mention that it was also Kennedy who wrote the ban.

who voted to ban .30-30 ammo Kennedy just ranted about the 30-30, right? I tried to find some information about this but didn't have much luck.
Do you have a link or some info? Thanx.

Thanx. But it didn't pass, obviously. Seems on your other thread a poster said the 30-30 reference by Kennedy was introduced as a poison pill.
I assume that means it was deliberate to kill the bill.
Why would the dims add a poison pill?

Why? What would that prove? That 50cals are evil? NOT!
The guns most often used in crimes, are the same guns that are most affordable, and the most needed for defense against criminals in the inner cities - N*****-Town Saturday Night Specials. Guns don't commit crimes, scumbags do!
Regardless of any and all illegitimate legislation, Californians will continue to NOT register their "assault weapons", and remain armed however they wish.

Contra Costa county is the only one banning the .50 cal rifle. For now. Although AB50 (and AB50 also bans .50 revolvers) has been beaten back, it can also come back. The Assembly and Senate are notorious for resurrecting these things.

I have several gun-owning friends who complain bitterly about the restrictive gun laws. I keep tabs on pending legislation in the state legislature so that I can call and fax committee members, and if the thing gets out of committee, contact my so-called representative about the legislation. I will contact my friends and relatives about pending bills, and ask them to contact their reps. Later, when I ask them if they called, and the bill has passed, they get this deer-in-the-headlights look and admit that they didn't.
Grrrrrr. If you didn't make an effort to stop it, then don't whine!
A couple of years ago, I was coming out of Traders Sports in San Leandro, and a man from the local NRA member's council had a table set up to register voters. I struck up a conversation with him. He said that quite a few gun owners won't register to vote because they don't want to be on a government list. !!!!! Hello. If you've purchased a firearm in California anytime in the last, I don't know, 10 - 15 years or so, you're on a government list. You're on all KINDS of government lists. So refusing to register to vote keeps you under the government's radar? That's about one of the most stupid things I've ever heard. No wonder we're screwed. BTW, if you want to look over a forum for California gun owners, check this out: California Guns Forum. Occasionally, someone will have a nice S&W revolver for sale.

We're a bit better about 2A issues here in NM (despite a bunch of Californians moving in and "enlightening" us) but gun shows generally suck.
You've got the jerkey guys, the magazine guy, the overpriced experts, out and out liars, the trash sellers, the high-speed low-drag "operators", the t-shirt guys, the survivalist book guys, the knife guy selling blades that would scare a Klingon, the inevitable neo-nazi guy, and a bunch walking around trying to sell a rusty J.C. Higgins at A.H. Fox prices.
The only guys who have anything of interest are from the local shops, and I go there already.

We still go to the gun shows, Vallejo and South San Francisco (Cow Palace, until they anti's succeed in banning the show), but we don't buy guns. We buy ammo from Miwall (the best prices around), and coins. Some of the coin dealers there have good quality stuff at very good prices. Other than that, fuhgeddaboutit.

My biggest gripe about gun shows was the "Beanie Babies" table, until a friend pointed out that they make great shotgun targets. They stand up suprisingly well to multiple hits before eventually turning inside-out. $;-)

I admit that my activism has slacked off in the past year or so.....it is so frustrating to fight the same battle over & over. I decided to just try & convert a few people a year instead of banging my head against a wall with my current rep (Waxman).
