McCreepy sets the homosexual movement back 100 years by demonstrating that homosexuality is a choice.
New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey sits with his daughter Jacqueline at the New Jersey Delegation breakfast during the Democratic Convention, July 28, 2004, in Boston. In a stunning declaration, McGreevey announced his resignation Thursday Aug. 12, 2004 and acknowledged that he had an extramarital affair with another man. (AP Photo/Novartis, Michael Dwyer)

Thanks for the links. Weather dudes are all a twitter around here.

As a Republican woman I vow to never be crass and tell a reporter to "shove it", even though I have had plenty of reason to do just that.

There's a
thread going about Julia Child's passing. She was an interesting person - left-leaning politically, alas, but nevertheless entertaining. As I noted on that thread, I've read the Noel Riley Fitch biography of Julia, "Appetite for Life," and it's just fascinating.

Thanks for the information and linkage...as I commented elsewhere, her self-deprecating sense of good humor made viewers out of many, who could care less about the meals or the food.
What a hoot she could be.

I always liked the way Julia appeared unflappable.
Better start looking for my water wings and snorkle.

Yeah, we just heard about 15 minutes ago, Cat 4, 145 mph winds. Have surfboard handy.
Where is Kerry with that windsurf board when you need him?

In other news, I found this commentary by a DNC volunteer (photo below, left) to be interesting reading.

Monday had a rousing lineup: Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. It was a real pleasure to be in the room. Though they were tiny on the stage, this was close as I will ever be to a president or vice-president, and it seemed remarkable. Bill Clinton of course, simply basked in the crowd's applause when he walked on stage. It's not just that he could read a phone book and make it inspirational--he could--but I had a strong sense that the people in the room were remembering the best times they had ever had, remembering the 90's when their man was popular and in office, and the country was prosperous and at peace. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
