They have not historically been bred to be people-aggressive. If you want to talk about recently, then maybe.

So you are different from every other pit bull owner I have ever met or heard of? I suppose it is possible, but then you know the reputation pit bulls have and choose to own one anyway. I am guessing you probably aren't too different from the average pit bull owner. If you were you wouldn't own one.

You've either never actually left your house and met another person (or a pit bull owner) or you're unfortunate enough to live in the scumbag section of town.

You can add me to the list of pit bull owners. I had the pleasure of owning Patches, a fat sissy of a pit bull who managed to get along with all of us, young, middle-aged and old, as well as Timmy the clawless house cat and two very excitable Yorkies who took the occasional whiz on Patches.

Pitt bulls are the shi'ite muslims of the pet world. One can only exult in the ending. What a wonderful human being you are, revelling in the death of Muslims. Sick.

I normally do not engage in personal attacks; I usually just comment or make funny remarks out into thin air. But this is the second time you've pushed my button. You must have manure for brains. You just took a flying leap to an unwarranted conclusion -- I hope you survived it. I reveled in the death of a dog that was acting like a muslim, not the death of an actual muslim. Aside from that, I suppose it's OK with you that muslims want me dead?

Joke or no joke, your statement below is crystal clear, and not really something one can misread (maybe your intent might be misread:

"Pitt bulls are the shi'ite muslims of the pet world. One can only exult in the ending."

Pit bull = Shiite Muslim = killer.

"Don't try to reason with the sheep. They're caught up in the hysteria. Next on the list is razorblades in apples on Halloween."

Except that razorblades in apples is an urban legend. Never happened. Since you are equating that with pit bull attacks, I guess you believe, against all evidence, that pit bull attacks never happen either? Whos the sheep?

"A pit bull raised well by good people is no more dangerous than a .38 in the hands of a well trained, law abiding citizen."

But a pit bull raised by bad people is far more dangerous than a .38 in the hands of bad people. Pit bulls are unpredictable. They don't just go off when their owners get angry. Their owners are always the most surprised, while everyone else just shakes their heads and says, "I told you so dummy."

Actually I live out in a rural area. I know of three pit bulls, all of which, have been in trouble, so to speak.

The one I have personal experience with was a pit/German Shepard mix. His owner was out of town and the bitch next door was in heat. Somehow he got into my fenced yard and was facing off, but not yet fighting, with my dogs (an Australian Shepard and a Golden Retriever). Luckily I was home and ran out and fired my .357 mag into the ground a coupe of times. That got his attention and he ran off while I got my dogs in the house. When I got back he had managed to get out of my yard again but was still roaming the area and being aggressive. My neighbor called the sheriff and when a deputy got there, it wasn't 30 seconds before he was attacked. At one point the deputy was standing on his patrol car aiming his revolver at the dog. After about 20 min. of this, another neighbor who was feeding the dog while his owner was away, came and tried to take him back to his house. He was bitten on the arm, but somehow managed to tie him up. That dog was lucky he didn't die that day. He came close several times.

Another pit bull belonged to a mechanic I know. His pit bull used to terrorize everyone who walked near his shop. According to his owner he killed two other dogs, which seems to me to be a strange thing to brag about? His pit bull is now dead under mysterious circumstances. He was hit by a car, but his owner believes he was hit on purpose by an acquaintance. Who knows, but I expect everyone is relieved.

The third pit I know of was apparently abandoned near a friends house. It was chasing his goats and killed a baby kid. My friend shot the dog and dumped the body in the land fill.

Yeah, pit bulls are a wonderful breed..</sarcasm

I blame that more on the cluelessness of the owners. Beat a dog and treat it like garbage, and then wonder why it snaps?
