The picture on the cnn link looks a bit phony, he is quite a bit behind the hanging whatever which distorts the size.

Domestic Boars of some breeds get that big, but I was always told that a feral hog could not find enough high energy food to grow to that size.

The only hogs I have seen have been at the zoo and they were quite small....He looks like he is mixed with hippo

Hunting plantations, like the one where hogzilla was killed, plant acres of wild food plots for the purpose of making the deer grow large. Which makes them magnets for feral hogs.
