You're very good with words, a task I struggle with.

People who struggle to express themselves often have very interesting things to say.

Witness Stephen Hawking, Helen Keller, and more than a few poets who struggle to write one letter at a time with movements of their heads.

Having a large vocabulary and being facile with words doesn't define what it takes to have interesting things to say. I have learned much from people with little education.

But I still think practice helps.

My problem is I know the words, I just can't put them together as eloquently as you and some of the others here.

It's always a pleasure to read thoughts expressed so well.

Thanks, but the point I'm trying to make is that it's the meaning that counts, not the high-falutin' vocabulary!

Will Rogers was a master of powerful understatement with simple words.

But the first important step is to have the thought, or the emotion. Then you can take all the time you need to express it. (And you can try over and over again until you get it right -- I do re-write, you know.)

I get into it, and I think I'm writing a short poem. Then I check it, and it goes on and on.

Somehow I don't think I'm working all by myself. It certainly doesn't seem that way to me. If I were doing it all on my own, it would surely be more difficult.

Somehow I don't think I'm working all by myself.

Lots of things in life are like that. Neat.

Like Trains of Cars on Tracks of Plush

Like Trains of Cars on Tracks of Plush
I hear the level Bee --
A Jar across the Flowers goes
Their Velvet Masonry --

Withstands until the sweet Assault
Their Chivalry consumes --
While He, victorious tilts away
To vanquish other Blooms.

Robert Browning (1812-1889)

Cavalier Tunes: Boot and Saddle

1       Boot, saddle, to horse and away!
2     Rescue my Castle, before the hot day
3     Brightens to blue from its silvery gray,
                         (Chorus)
4         Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!

              5       Ride past the suburbs, asleep as you'd say;
6     Many's the friend there, will listen and pray
7     "God's luck to gallants that strike up the lay--
                          (Chorus)
8         Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!"

9       Forty miles off, like a roebuck at bay,
10     Flouts Castle Brancepeth the Roundheads' array:
11     Who laughs, "Good fellows ere this, by my fay,
                          (Chorus)
12         Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!"

13       Who? My wife Gertrude; that, honest and gay,
14     Laughs when you talk of surrendering, "Nay!
15     I've better counsellors; what counsel they?
                          (Chorus)
16         Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!"

Good morning, Star!! Thank You for the playful Robert Browning poem this morning. Nothing like the classics.

Love the graphic.
