"When all else fails I have strong powers of denial."

Ha! That sounds like a useful trait.

"Out of the night, when the still moon is bright, comes a ... voice ...

"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything."

That is an amateur approach. I do not deny responsibility for an action. I deny the action entirely. If it never happened it certainly isn't my fault.

I'm remembering, perhaps mis-remembering, a movie that may have been titled, "How To Cheat On Your Wife." The scene I recall had Sid Caesar, caught flagrantly in bed with another woman, calmly confusing his wife, (Imogene Coca).

He and the woman get up, get dressed, make the bed, and so forth, all the while denying that anything happened, or is happening.

The scene ends with the wife, looking around at a room which has no evidence of what she knows she saw, saying, "Uh, how do you want your breakfast?"

Thanks but I found a case of time in the bedroom closet. I had forgotten it was there.

Shoot! I'll bet I have a bunch of time in that coffee can in my closet! I always throw in the extra minutes I have at the end of the day. Thanks for jogging the old memory.
