OMG..I am laughing so hard, I have the hiccups.
Politics in Tennessee of the 1820s was a lot like the movie 'Tombstone'. My family and another vying for office and ending with a killing.
So9
It is just wonderful that your family history is not made up of throw away children, abotions, adoptions, misfits and and anything other kinds of trails which much of mankind had to go through.
Oh, I do have a throw away child. My own son.
I am not ashamed of my Grandmother. She was one of 13 children and had to quit school to work as a maid for a wealthy family when she was 15 - unfortunately, the man of the house was a sex predator and she became pregnant, so my Dad was born into that big, poor family with his mother's family name. They raised him to be a good, decent citizen, husband and father. No reason for shame. No reason to pretend it didn't happen that way. No reason to pretend I am any better or worse than anyone else because of my heritage. I am an American.
My understanding is that throw aways are children in childhood who are abandonm, not grown malcontent!
Resty, do you have any children?
NO!
Why do you have no children?
Married late!
I am sorry you feel that way I pray a time will mend and heal.
I Know Children are the Lord's greatest gift to mankind!
Not all children rebel the majority are a blessing althrough life!
I am curious as to why you never adopted a child?
Don't know about that .. All I know is that in my mother's family everyone is named Bill .. Mary ... Elizabeth .. Mary Elizabeth .. Anne .. Bill .. Margret .. Margret Mary .. did I mention Bill .. that was a VERY common name .. there were so many Bill's I lost count .. LOL
Mine came because they were hungry ... that and they heard American's had good beer :0)
I'm looking forward to Al speech ... I'm expecting his to be in full throat preacher mode .. *L*
A better and more concise statement of what it really means to be an American is hard to imagine.
I never knew I was anything but an American before I came on FR and heard so much talk about Yankee this and Yankee that.
Yeah.. I guess I'm a Yankee, if that relates to the place where you happened to be born. ;)
We are .. just like southerns are .. and those out west .. and in the fly over states
Though, yes we all americans .. we are all a part of history in one form or another .. just like our famlies before us are.
I'm sorry that I have spoken about the Yankee thing .. It was done in humor and not meant to upset so many.
