Hope is always available to us. When we feel defeated, we need only take a deep breath and say, "Yes," and hope will reappear.

I heard from radu. She sent me pictures of her front lawn, drool, it is awash in yellow daffodils.

Good morning, everyone ..

Very nice music this morning, feather! And SAM, I liked your posting as well. One for the favorites file :)

Those Images
William Butler Yeats

What if I bade you leave
The cavern of the mind?
There's better exercise
In the sunlight and wind.
I never bade you go
To Moscow or to Rome.
Renounce that drudgery,
Call the Muses home.
Seek those images
That constitute the wild,
The lion and the virgin,
The harlot and the child
Find in middle air
An eagle on the wing,
Recognise the five
That make the Muses sing.

Rose day at the Lair. :-)

EIGHTEEN YELLOW ROSES

Eignteen yellow roses came today
Eighteen yellow roses in a pretty bouquet
When the boy came to the door
I didn't know what to say
But eighteen yellow roses came today
I opened up the card to see what it said
I couldn't believe my eyes
When I had read
Though you belong to another I love you anyway
Yes eighteen yellow roses came today

I never doubted your love for a minute
I always thought that you would be true
But now this box and the flowers in it
I guess there's nothin' left for me to do
But ask to meet the boy that's done this thing
And find out if he's got plans to buy you a ring
'Cause eighteen yellow roses will wilt and die one day
But a father's love will never fade away
Will never fade away

Bobby Darin

I posted this about a week back but what the heck .. it's in keeping with the theme!

The Lover Tells Of The Rose In His Heart
William Butler Yeats

All things uncomely and broken, all things worn out and old,
The cry of a child by the roadway, the creak of a lumbering cart,
The heavy steps of the ploughman, splashing the wintry mould,
Are wronging your image that blossoms a rose in the deeps of my heart.
The wrong of unshapely things is a wrong too great to be told;
I hunger to build them anew and sit on a green knoll apart,
With the earth and the sky and the water, re-made, like a casket of gold
For my dreams of your image that blossoms a rose in the deeps of my heart.

Hi, feather :)

Sorry to hear of your snow. We got seven more inches last weekend and it was very depressing. Nothing today, so hopefully it will get warm enough to melt what we have left.

I'm on a Yeats kick of late, it seems.

Okay, you all let's have some fun

click, click of the tongue,

Martha Stewart's buns are done.

In a cell she will dwell

decorating concrete walls

will be hell and

scrape her hide.

Is Martha Queen of clean or is it mean?

Now, dear Martha you are toast

oh my dear, shall I fix you a roast?

Mashed potatoes, and rare roast beef

are not offered in the clink,

even though it's neat....

Sooo, Ms Stewart take some advice

from ms feather, don't lie honey

it ain't no protector!
