That's something I'm clueless about. What on earth are they?

I would expect such an area of "reality," whatever that is, to be strewn with hucksters, marginal troubled freaks on the fringes of society . . . as well as clever, effective, dilligent disinformation specialists aplenty. I'd think it would be rather odd and very unusual to be otherwise.

What is a puzzle to me is how vast proportions of normally sharp folks are more or less addicted to sleeping with a TYPE II error while being in denial about it all in the name of avoiding a TYPE I error.

I rarely see much balance between avoiding both types of error in this subject area. Whether as a shrink or as a sociologist that's a big puzzle. My only tentative explanation to myself is that change--particularly frightful change--is . . . well . . . just tooooo frightful. So, let's deny it and label it all manner of rationalized stuff so we can sleep better at night.

That works for a while. Has worked for decades. It will not work for an equal number of decades more. The paradigm shifts have been collecting relentlessly in the hopper. They are getting increasingly ready to flood out onto the floor of public consciousness. It almost doesn't matter what area of reality begins the flood. Once the dike is breached, the houses and villages in the valley of decision will be flooded beyond memory.

IF one just took the world government thread, THAT ONE theme; that one thread; that one corner of reality WILL ALTER all the others more or less immeasurably compared to life as it has been known the last several millenia. And there are likely AT LEAST half a dozen OTHER threads connected to that one--of which the UFO/ET thread is merely one.

And if you fail to see or understand the handwriting on the wall about the world government, then perhaps you need braille lessons or really are on the wrong forum. DU has one that might be more to your sensibilities.

And if you are aware of the push, even the rush toward a world government but think it can be prevented or won't be that much of a bother . . . I suggest you smoke something else.

There was an old movie when I was a young teen as best as I can remember. The government scientists went to a lot of trouble to change this military man into a convincing ET with lots of bioengineering types of modifications and unknown materials for his crashed craft. The motive was to convince the world of an external threat to force peace or some such. It was a plausible hypothesis which President Reagan commented on more than a few times. Perhaps he was signalling as best he could with those comments.

Signalling what? Hard to say. That change is coming, perhaps--serious change.

The Bible says men's hearts will fail them for fear. One either believes that or doesn't. One either believes that is about our era or one doesn't.

Having studied a wide diversity of stuff for more than 45 years that might remotely have some connection with Biblical Prophecy . . . I no longer have the convenient or inconvenient luxury of believing life the rest of my years will go on more or less as it always has.

I don't know which or how much of the UFO/ET stuff will fall off the shelves as verified fact and how much of it as disinformation and how much of it the rantings of syphlitic perverts. But my relative and other valid connections, sources rob me of the comfort of pretending there's essentially nothing to it.

And the hand-in-glove fit to so much of Scriptural prophecy only adds to the weight of acceptance of reality in our era as all cocked for massive, reality bending change.

Rail and rant dismissively if it helps you sleep better. I hope you don't end up like the scientists at Edwards when Ike was exposed to the ET phenomenon. Some may still be wearing their straight jackets.

This shrink disagrees with your analysis.

What you describe may well account for a significant number of stories. In some age groups, perhaps quite a significant percentage.

But there are significant clusters of cases where your explanation accounts for little to nothing in the experience of the persons concerned.

I would have thought such a bright person as yourself would have been aware of that.

Also, of course, the alien was referring to the cattle product, in the process of saying that cattle products are the mainstay of their nutrition--

and surely making a kind of joke to the abductee woman...

and thus there was NO reference to so-called beefsteak mushrooms, whatever they are and wherever they might be. The reference is to a steak, a slice of a bovine critter.

Oldest trick in the book, to claim that somehow those interested in cutting-edge subjects, or knowing the truth about such a murky mess as the UFO phenomenon...

somehow are trying to make MONEY by so doing. A lot more money could be made by a minimum wage job at Wal Mart, and with a lot less IQ and qualifications and research skills.

Does the writer imagine that any of us on here have ever made one cent out of the UFO thing? Instead, it has COST a few hundred bucks every year or two, maybe, for books and other research materials, travel, etc.

has been miniscule compared to the cost in . . . hassle, disdain, hostility, accusations, askance looks, whispers behind the back etc.

One doesn't study this as tenaciously as we have without some real dedication and a real tough hide. IMHO.

Actually, given the hostility in Christian circles to the topic, I'd not have stuck it out without a sense that God had led me to such a study.

An example of this would be the common idea that human beings are made of flesh and have a soul. The correct data would be human beings are a spirit and attached to a body of flesh.

Not for a second - in fact, I have oft time pondered exactly what kind of event would need to happen to this planet to allow for the entire world to (1) have the same belief system and (2) allow for the a controlling one world governemnt/religious power.

Two words: Crop circles

What, if any significance, can we ascribe to this phenomenon? Most, especially those showing up in the UK are WAY to intricate and mathematically complicated to have been put together by a bunch of idiot college kids with boards and ropes. They're obviously from an "intelligence" but what is the significance?

They are communications from the same source as the Saucers, it would appear. One series of crop circles in the UK gave instructions on the construction of the power plant used by UFO's to achieve FTL trasport, etc. The book the GIFT, is good on that. Also, Unconventional Flying Objects, by Paul Hill.

I liked the time when two crop circles appeared (August 2001?) right at the observatory in England, and one of which gave a man's picture, perhaps the Maximo Leader of an alien dictatorship, and the other a detailed response to our Arecibo message sent in the early 70's, which told where they were and what their size was etc in response to our encoded message to Them.
