Noonan, was right, the President is uncomfortable in interviews, that is why he rarely does them. If you read Noonan's article in it's entirety she pointed out Kerry is just as fumbling when he gives speeches. Kerry is a better interview. The President is walking a fine line, idiots question why we went to war, swallowing the Dem talking points and he needs to rebut their claims, but it is to early to become aggressive.

Nice post, common sense. Nobody has the right to define conservatism in their own terms. You have Rockefeller Republicans, Reagan Democrats, Southern Conservative Republicans, Gay Republicans, Black Republicans,....... and so on. This is what makes up our party, the common thread being conservatism. However each persons life experiences determine how they view conservatism. Some see conservatism defined as no gun control, no abortion, no affirmative action etc.. The President cannot cater to every group, the Single Issue Conservatives attack him. Their well thought out strategy is I won't vote, Bush will lose and the party will go more conservative. That is the YOU WON"T PLAY BY MY RULES SO I AM TAKING MY VOTE AND GOING HOME CONSERVATIVE, (Exit stage left, stomping feet and pouting lips). Vote for anyone other than Bush and you are voting for Kerry. Those with common sense in the party will not follow them off this cliff. Besides their theory could work in local and maybe even state politics, However, In Presidential elections we have an ELECTORAL COLLEGE, popular votes do not count, and for damn good reason. If it was by popular vote, New York, LA, Chicago and Seattle would be enough to elect the presidents.

Perhaps someone can intervene and put President back on the conservative path, but I think it is too late. At this point, I would vote for Kucinich or Sharpton over Bush. The only Democratic contender I would hesitate over is General Clark Thank God there are some Dems who will counter your vote and push the lever for President Bush. I took a close look at Perot, too, until I realized he was a loony.

They take their best shot at the president every day a newspaper is published.

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING! The democrat party does not comprehend the enormity of 911. They act in unison as though it never happened. To not return a Republican to the White House is to kiss our collective asses good bye.
