I'm sorry; are you saying that there were no other victims of the Holocaust but the Jews? That the millions of "others" are a fiction?

The communal memory of what, the 14th century? This is 21 century America; when did we have any outbreaks of violence vs. the Jews from "Passion Plays"?

There's nothing new under the sun -- to me that means there is no nation that has not at one time made war on a neighbor, no man who has never sinned against another. I give John Paul II a good deal of credit for making an public apology on behalf of the Catholic church. Too often problems are ignored until they go away, and even though the current Pope is not personally responsible for the holocaust visiting Israel was a good symbolic gesture and start on atonement. Semper Fi.
