I don't recall saying I was in touch with anyone associated with OU. I don't even particularly like the team. The only OU alum I'm in contact with is my brother. He would have liked the ridiculous "best team ever" moniker that would have been attainable with a Big XII championship, but he would gladly trade a Big XII title for another Sears trophy.

And you'll have a hard time convincing me that the Sooners were more into this game than the Texas game.

Unless and until the BCS formula is tweaked or scrapped altogether, I'll pick the first one.

It's wide open. Mike Williams and Matt Leinert for Heisman. ;)

Think, folks.

Conference champions as a rule aren't always the teams which make it to the basketball or baseball championships. Oklahoma is clearly a Wild Card BCS team and made it based on the performance of the team and their opponents. The BCS system also allows BCS teams to schedule BCS opponents and discourages new teams from joining.

At times like these I prefer the drama of college baseball's four weekend format over football's controversial system.

Baseball: 4 teams, 6-7 games (7th game necessary if winner of Game 4 (winner of Game 1 vs winner of Game 2) loses Game 6 (Championship)), then winners of the 16 regionals in a 3-game regional playoff, then another pair of 4-team brackets in the same 6-7 game format, and then a 3-game series.

I'll never forget the 2002 semifinals in baseball. One of the most heated rivalries (one-sided in football since the 1970's) turned ugly during the game, which resulted in a second game between the two teams. To this day the losing side says it's the most shameful match of all time.
