NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, whose criticism of President Bush last spring led to boycotts of the group's music, still has a lot to say about the war in Iraq.
"I think people were misled and I think people are fighting a war that they didn't know they were going to be fighting," Maines said Friday on NBC's Today Show. "And I think they were misled by people who should have been asking questions and weren't."
The country stars faced criticism and even death threats after Maines said she and her bandmates were ashamed that President Bush was from Texas. She made the remark in London shortly before the war began.
Though Maines apologized for the phrasing of her remark, some radio stations banned the group's music. The group also received death threats in the wake of Maines' comments.
Maines said Friday she did not feel vindicated by how the war has unfolded: "I would have liked to have been proven wrong."
The band's recent concert tour was one of the year's most successful, but Maines said it is too early to predict the long-term fallout.
As for the backlash, she said, "We like making music and we'll continue to do that whether people buy it or not."
The Dixie Chicks on Friday released, "Top Of The World Tour Live," their double CD set and DVD.

If she wants to know if it was the right thing to do, she should stop listening to her commie pals and Saddam loyalists and listen to what the free citizens of Iraq are saying. Unfortunately the many hundreds of thousands or more murdered in cold blood by Saddam and his sons can't say anything.

Is anyone else getting tired of hearing people like her selfishly using the precious blood of our noble war dead to justify their despicable actions?

I am definitely more convinced by the superior intellect. I put more stock in the Britney Spears analysis.

That's not real is it? Micheal Jacksons plane wouldn't have had to leave the tail hanging out if the hanger doors opened that wide!

She's not going to win any prizes for brains, but she knows what side her bread is buttered on. She's now an icon to the left, well established on the crypto-communist plantation, and the entertainment industry will see to it that her act is promoted, showcased and rewarded. That's why she's continuing to be maximally offensive to those who love America.

I do not consider Austin a part of Texas. It's a province of communist Cuba.

The funny thing was her initial statement in the UK wasn't antiwar, it was anti-Buah, after the firestorm she merely parroted the arguments of the Left after having been coached by her PR people. Oddly, in the run up to the War she saw it advantageous to her and her band to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl for 1 billion people (consumers). Would that she had been so Antiwar that she declined the offer to belt out the anthem. True antiwar believers wouldn't have done what she did. Shame on her for trying to capitalize on the patriotic mood of the country. I thought people like her thought that kind of thing was jingoism.
Clearly, the witch was pro-Bush in America and anti-Bush in Europe.

Does anybody else find her appearance in bad taste? She is trying to simultaneously rehabilitate her career, push a CD and suggest that Saddam should still be in power while the fascistic remnants of that regime are bombing schools and killing Iraqi children. This woman has really gone over the line, I feel bad for her. The things a person will do to sell CDs. She has blood on her hands.

underneath it all she is dumb as a rock...as are most creative "artist" type lefties....they are saying what they think endears them to the crowd they aspire to accept them...not their fans.
they are useful idiots to the aging red diaper babies and their newer version of facially mutilated ANSWER clones.

It's the fat, stupid, slutty chick with the Farah Fawcett hair.
Oh, how fortunate we are to be recipients of the profound thought processes of deep thinkers like Miss Mainsley-Dumb.

Yes, I agree with your entire post.
I guess she is just a Leftist, and always has been one. It may be that she is just no longer keeping it hidden.
I suppose it shouldn't be too shocking that the Left typically sides with the true fascists, in spite of the fact that they never stop accusing the USA of being the same.
I'm sure it doesn't escape them that by opposing Bush, they are siding with Saddam. But it doesn't escape quite a few of us that the Left will do nearly anything, even gladly sacrifice entire nations, probably including, or perhaps especially including the USA, in their quest for power.
