You're welcome Snippy and Feather. Just my small contribution to the Lair.
I liked the Last Leaf poem, so glad I found the perfect graphic.

That was Amy Lee and Ben Moody from the band Evanescence.
A bit of a more darker look at it:
evanescence - even in death
give me a reason to believe that you're gone
i see your shadow so i know they're all wrong
moonlight on the soft brown earth
it leads me to where you lay
they took you away from me but now i'm taking you home
[chorus]
i will stay forever here with you
my love
the softly spoken words you gave me
even in death our love goes on
some say i'm crazy for my love, oh my love
but no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love
they don't know you can't leave me
they don't hear you singing to me
[chorus]
i will stay forever here with you
my love
the softly spoken words you gave me
even in death our love goes on
and i can't love you, anymore than i do
i will stay forever here with you
my love
the softly spoken words you gave me
even in death our love goes on
and i can't love you, anymore than i do
i'll die, but real love is forever

I don't think these lines are all that dark.
I have seen and heard much darker.
To: bentfeather; Darksheare; radu
Darksheare dear, I hope you don't mind but I've brought your image over here to see if it will inspire some prose. It says a lot and of course we don't mind looking at you either. hehe.

Dragon in Flight by Trikebuilder
There amid the towering white towers of clouds he flew, against that bright cerulean sky, and I rode him with joy. Swift as the very wind, and bright as the morning sun, his scales of deep emerald green sparkled like jewels.
Just us two to challenge the sweeping sky, and the imperial towers of ivory shade. Daring to top the highest tower, or swooping into depths of hidden gloom.
Dancing in the air, in halls of crystal fragments high, I see the last lights of day on swirling vapors play. We venture into palaces of the air, and do so without care, conquering the moment upon our estates we fly. Wide his wings, that crack with mighty power, lifting us to places only we can go alone. His lashing tail sweeps the sky in warning of our strength, and we ascend the cloudy staircase to grandeur.
He has talons like iron, and claws of tempered steel, and a hide decorated with green armored scales. This mighty beast is my true friend, and we journey yet again, touching the sky, and wondering at our freedom as we fly.
************************
Trikebuilder left this poem last night. I want for everyone to see his work. Trikerbuilder, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Perhaps no person can be a poet, or can even enjoy poetry, without a certain unsoundness of mind.

Trick or Treat
 A Dream Within a Dream
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
Edgar Allan Poe

Good morning everyone!!
Today is November 1, 2003.

Quote for the day.
Many politicians are in the habit of laying down as self-
evident the proposition that no people ought to be free
till they are fit to use their freedom. This maxim is
worthy of the fool in the old story who resolved not to go
into the water till he had learned to swim.
Thomas Babington Macauley (1800-1859) English politician

Good morning feather. I'm off to run some errands and will stop back later.

Lighting Candles At Twilight and Dawn
I lit a candle
in the sanctuary of my soul
it flickers nearly out, yet, holds to
the fire that is me,
it lives where prying eyes
have no entrance into the sanctuary
where deafening, shrill,
jangling sounds of silence are the
wretched hauntings
of lighting candles alone
...in quiet times between
twilight and dusk...
