“This could snowball quickly as staffers seek safe harbor,” renowned George Washington University Law Professor Johnathan Turley explained Wednesday in his analysis of a New York Times report that Alaska Democrats schemed to deceive voters in the midterm elections.
Democrat Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign sought out and convinced a retired teacher with the same name as her Republican opponent to put his name on the ballot in an apparent effort to dupe voters, The The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing its review of communications and interviews.
“If true, the report raises concerns over filings by Peltola in seeking to dismiss an action by the Justice Department to address the obvious effort to confuse voters. The Peltola campaign did not state that they were actively informed in such efforts to cause vote errors,” Prof. Turley noted in a series of X.com posts.

Democrat scum.
A snowball? In Alaska?
Smart approach. Don’t go after the fraud itself, which is not technically illegal, but go after the misrepresentations in their court filings, which possibly could be.
Follow the money. Was he paid to do this?
I’m shocked the story broke in the New York Slimes. The story will quickly gain traction as the bastion of leftism exposed it and it cannot be blamed on some “ right wing “ source.
Peltola && campaign lawyers and senior aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC),
called “the ballot composition project”
should be jailed and hung this week
for their treason, felonies, and attempt to
destroy this country and its constitution.
I wonder if the internal polls show her losing despite all the chicanery and she’s being Platnered, as losing is the only sin the left cannot abide....
Evidently the Slimes has figured out that Peltola is toast so there’s no harm in telling the truth for a change. Never would have happened if she was a lock for the win.
That shocked me also? Hard to believe the New York Times did not cover it up, as usual for them.
How did Sullivan get on the ballot? Can anyone get on the ballot in AK by simply announcing they are a candidate?
Well, if it’s going to snowball it had better do so quickly. Very quickly if it is to have an impact on the midterms.
This has to be illegal on many levels. Election officials should have stepped in and flagged this type of obvious election tampering.
Election fraud, witness tampering/obstruction of justice, false statements, and campaign finance crimes.
Put a slew of them in prison, including the candidate.
It might have been nice if this all came out a few months ago.
Or it’s a giant feint to distract from the massive voter harvesting that’s taking place on the reservations. 🙄
The NYT reported, citing its review of communications
and interviews, that Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign:
<><>sought out and got a retired teacher to run for office
<><>the man’s name is the same as her Republican opponent
<><>duping unsuspecting voters is the name of Peltola’s game.
<><>ergo every official document filed was falsified.
<><>falsifying is the the basis for prosecuting all involved.
It’s their once per year gift to conservatives to show the public they are fair to both sides.
Running for Federal Office (U.S. Senate, or House)
<><>If you are running for federal office, you must file official registration documents with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) once you raise or spend more than $5,000:
<><>FEC Form 2 (Statement of Candidacy): Must be filed within 15 days of crossing the $5,000 threshold. This form officially declares your candidacy and names your principal campaign committee.
<><>FEC Form 1 (Statement of Organization): Must be filed by your campaign committee within 10 days after you designate them on Form 2. This form registers the campaign committee itself, names the mandatory committee treasurer, and lists your campaign’s bank depository.
<><>Federal candidates must file paperwork with individual state authorities (usually the Secretary of State) to actually get their name printed on the physical ballot.
<><>This typically includes a state-level Declaration of Intent / Notice of Candidacy and Nomination Petitions signed by a required number of registered voters.
I remember reading and hearing about this a few months ago.
Oddly, I can only find articles on this subject only as far back as 5 days ago.(Most of them are from less than 24 hours ago.)
