Bolsheviks? The DSA is only cosplaying revolution.
The Washington Post ^ | Thursday, September 17, 2026 | Gary Rosen

Posted on 09/17/2026 1:50:36 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

The Democratic Party is not in the grip of a “Bolshevik revolution,” as House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) claimed from the stage of the GOP’s midterm convention last week in Dallas. Nor is it true, as President Donald Trump declared, that “it’s going to be a communist country” if the Democrats win in November. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) was a bit closer to the mark when he said, “Next year the communists will be in Congress.”

What’s fair to say is that a handful of this fall’s Democratic candidates, many of whom will no doubt win seats in Congress, are proud members of the Democratic Socialists of America, which revels in Marxist rhetoric and whose ranks include a not-insignificant minority of self-identified communists. This ideological insurgency is a gift in a big red bow for Republicans, who need to overcome Trump’s abysmal approval ratings, and a political nightmare for floundering Democrats. The fact of the DSA’s radicalism cannot be disputed.

The real question is how seriously to take it. I tend to think not very.

Bolsheviks are unsentimental killers; their program is to seize and hold state power through force and terror. The program of today’s DSA revolutionaries is expressive, romantic and, I would argue, only secondarily political. It is the feckless utopianism and anti-imperialist posturing of the dorm lounge and the Brooklyn brewpub — the politics of young, college-educated, downwardly mobile urbanites looking for a cause to organize their grievances. And it is a boutique passion: The group’s membership, even after a burst of growth in the wake of Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York, is only about 120,000.

Their party platform calls for the replacement of the Constitution. I’d say that’s pretty political.

So is Lindsay Clancy -- and she has many supporters among Dim voters.

If this idiot thinks they wouldn’t go through with it given the chance he’s smoking something. They know they have no idea what they’re doing, but that’s not a problem if they get a prospect of virtue signaling their way into wielding unaccountable power.

There are of course elements of Bolshevism in this movement as well as I think even more of the French revolution and the fair amount of the Spanish Civil War
But it’s also different
I hope we don’t have to solve it the way those were solved, but it’s a distinct possibility

I think one difference between this Current revolution if you want to call it that
And the other socialist movements of the past 200+ years is that the revolutionary side already controls the vast majority of the cultures institutions across the board
And that was not the case in Russia or France or even Spain

In Russia the Mensheviks never thought their enemy, the Bolsheviks (meaning = minority party), would ever seize power.

Legal, constitutional, and structural rules strictly limit the U.S. military from integrating with foreign armed forces so as to protect national sovereignty and congressional power.

Constitutional and Command Independence

Separate Commands: U.S. troops cannot answer to foreign officers. Foreign troops cannot answer to U.S. officers. National decision-making stays independent.

Congressional Power: Under Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, only Congress can declare war, fund the military, and approve foreign military commitments.

No Automatic Treaties: Working together on technology does not mean the US automatically enters a mutual defense pact without congressional approval.

Technology and Security Restrictions

Export Controls: Strict rules limit how the U.S. shares sensitive defense technology and research with other countries.

Enlistment Bans: Federal laws stop citizens from adversary nations (like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea) from joining the US Armed Forces (to stop spying).

Accountability Funding Limits: Congress uses its budget power to stop money from going toward unauthorized joint combat or foreign military entanglements.

ICE has been shot at, rammed and fought with routinely.

Supreme Court Justice has assassin show up at his house.

Pennsylvania Governor has his residence firebombed.

Lefty explodes his cybertruck at a Trump hotel.

Calling what is going on today a Bolshevik revolution is giving the DSA leaders and voters way too much credit, as if they understand Marxist philosophy as compared to Capitalist philosophy. Today’s Bolshevik Revolution is simply the next step in the modern American philosophy of “gimme gimme gimme and make ‘the rich’ pay for it.”
