The first dagesh forte in the Torah is on the shin (שׁ) of הַשָּׁמַיִם ("the heavens") in Genesis 1:1.
"Shemot" (שמות, names) is a masculine word with a non-standard fem. plural ending -ot (ות-), versus -im (ים-).
It's also the name of the 13th parsha, Exodus 1:1--6:1.
If the heavens (hashamayim) were the names (shem, שם "name"), there would be two of them, because the -ayim ending is the dual plural pronunciation.
And of course there's the teaching about the heavens (shamayim) involving water -- she-mayim, that (ש) which is water, mayim (מים).
The letter mem is the numeral 40. Its name (mem, מם) doubles the value to 80, because there are two of them. And a mikveh (min. volume 40 seah) is short for mikveh mayim (מקוה מים), a gathering of waters.
מקוה מים adds up to 241, same as the black key space in the subtractive light color model of the CMYK tzimtzum portal.
Well, you knew all of this.
If שמות were a portmanteau, the alef had dropped out like it does in the words formed with אור, light. That's how you know to reverse-engineer שמות (which as-is has an unfortunate element of death to it) to shem ot (שם אות), the "name of a letter/sign/signal/omen."
