New York City Democratic Mayor Zohran Mamdani is embarking upon a socialist agenda during his first year in office.
As wealthy residents flee the Big Apple to avoid higher taxes, Florida is emerging as a major destination for their resources and businesses — a reality in which the Sunshine State is reveling.
The Florida Chamber of Commerce launched a Times Square billboard campaign calling Mamdani the “Economic Developer of the Year.”
“We wanted to thank him for the jobs, the companies, the people that they’re pushing out of New York — and a lot of them are coming to Florida,” Florida Chamber of Commerce CEO Mark Wilson told Fox Business on Aug. 10.
Wilson drew attention to the broader threat toward freedom represented by Mamdani and other democratic socialists.
“America is at a crossroads right now. I think everyone that’s paying attention knows that our country was built on freedom and free enterprise and people having the liberty to make their dreams come true,” he added.
“And there’s a push in our country right now to take those liberties away and to attack free enterprise. And that’s never worked anywhere, and it won’t work in America.”

Unfortunately, all these red state transplants from blue states bring their blue state politics with them. It’s not much different than all the aliens, legal and illegal, that have flooded our country, bringing their sicko cultures with them. Why don’t they stay in their states and vote out the rotten policies instead? This will not end well for red states.

I love it. A great jab on Florida’s part.
That is hilarious. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.” “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

I hope you’re right.
Everybody I know moving south is MAGA. As will I be when I move.
I don't think that 'blue staters' want to come to DeSantis' Florida, and the numbers bear that out:
Since 2019 Florida is up almost 900k Republican registered voters and down over 900k Democrat registered voters.
There was a large migration of northeasterners to the sunbelt back in the 1970s. Even then, there was a concern of the south being made liberal by a large influx into the research triangle in North Carolina.
Now, northern Virginia is a special case, because it is a product of an expanding government (including government contractor workforce), but North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia did not become liberal during that time period, even as Atlanta and Charlotte mushroomed in migrant population. That has been starting to change, but largely for other reasons. The real problem is that big cities everywhere are inherently liberal, and they are getting much larger.
Good to know, but other states have not been so lucky, e.g. Idaho.

That is one of the most important questions that Floridians and Texans should be asking...
"Conquest by dilution" is a communist and islamist strategy...
Yeah, but it also brings the people who vote stupid.
I'd venture a guess that transplants to blue cities are making them bluer. Not sure about red/purple cities, depends on the # of H-1Bs that live there. Indians/South Asians are becoming more Democrat, due to the restrictions Trump is putting on the program.
Rural districts seem to get redder by the day. Growth in outlying areas is from people moving farther out to get away from the congestion.
Irving/Valley Ranch is now a lost cause, thanks to redistricting. Our reps for the last 6-8 years have been Allred and Julie Johnson. Demographics of local school district are 60+% South Asian.
“Noo Yawk City” Democrat Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a muslim and a “Noo” Socialist!
“Nuff” said!
Abolish the Florida Chamber of Commerce! It is deceiving those poor NY’ers making them think life is better in Florida.
Florida is a hellhole. It’s too hot, humid and moldy. But on occasion it cools off after a hurricane rolls through, which is good because sleeping in your dilapidated house without power, water, AC, roof or windows is made easier when the “real feel” temperature is under 110.
There are lots of creatures in FL that want to bite, sting, strangle or eat you. Sometimes all four. Just be aware that pets are at the bottom of the food chain here. Humans are one level up.
Then there are the diseases. Leprous armadillos digging in your yard on land and flesh eating bacteria in the water. And of course there are all the things the mosquitoes carry. The ubiquitous poisonous snakes and toads aren’t a disease technically.
Speaking of mosquitos, they can drink Deep Woods Off. I admit they have them somewhat under control in places. It’s becoming less common to find livestock dead from mosquito caused hemoglobin loss. But it’s not only the overwhelming quantity of them it’s their size, too. For instance, just when you think a black egret is flying your way you realize it’s a mosquito zooming in to scoop up your dog. Fun Fact: Mosquitoes are the state bird.
After a while you kinda get used to the mosquitos. Fire ants not so much. Fire Ants aren’t much of a problem unless you go outside in the grass...oh wait...I’ve had them on my sidewalk and driveway too. Never mind, they’re a problem. After a while when the blisters from the stings dry up the burning and itching eases up too (unless they get infected from scratching the relentless itching). Did I mention we have lots of highly paid dermatologists in FL?
Gators, there are lots of gators. Some small, some big, but all mean and hungry. They like to dine on golfers, swimmers, fishermen and especially tender children and small pets. They aren’t found in salt water though. I guess they are afraid of the roving schools of man eating tiger and hammerhead sharks.
But the people are friendly. Friendly but not always sane. Some of the stories about Florida Man aren’t true. When investigated they often turn out that Florida Man didn’t do the crazed act, it was Florida Woman instead. On the rare occasions when they are sober or not on meth, they are pretty harmless, except when brandishing a gun.
Everyone here can carry a gun, both concealed or open. This is a good thing in case you are taking the trash out and accidentally corner a bobcat, bear, giant rodent, large reptile, or Florida Man.
I hope this helps those thinking of coming from a northern blue state to understand that the Florida Chamber of Commerce is on par with a Nigerian Prince running a Mumbai call center. We residents of Florida apologize for the deception these rogue bureaucrats with marketing degrees inflict on innocent people in the north.
Take my advice Florida is not for the faint hearted. (I’ve read that Minnesota has better social services.)
