In this video, Victor Davis Hanson argues that despite persistent narratives of national decline, the United States is currently experiencing a quiet technological revolution. He contends that the U.S. has solidified a dominant position in key future-defining industries through deregulation and government policy. Key Takeaways
Tech Dominance: The U.S. currently hosts 850 tech companies valued at over $1 billion each, with an aggregate market capitalization of $5.2 trillion (1:11-1:33).
Space Exploration: American firms, particularly SpaceX, are significantly outperforming international competitors in satellite deployments and rocket launches (2:22-3:35).
Artificial Intelligence: Of the top 10 most used AI platforms globally, 8 are American, with the top 7 being entirely U.S.-based (3:35-4:55).
Software Industry: The U.S. captures approximately 85-90% of the value and influence in the global software market, led by major corporations like Apple, Alphabet, and Microsoft (4:55-6:30).
Genetic Engineering: The U.S. maintains a lead in this sector as well, with the vast majority of top-tier companies in the field being American (6:30-7:53).
Victor Davis Hanson concludes that the U.S. economy has outpaced competitors like China and Europe, holding a near-monopoly on the emerging technologies that will dictate future global security and prosperity (7:53-8:52).

AI needs to deliver a cure for cancer soon or the negative press will result data center development being stopped entirely—which will put the kabosh on the promised really big advances like cures for cancer and other diseases.
I have huge hopes for AI (and the corresponding data centers needing to run them).
There's been a lot of pushback from people mostly on the right against these technologies, because there's such a potential for misuse.
I would caution against this, lest we find ourselves like those on the Left who succeeded in basically stonewalling nuclear power right out of the gate and ensuring that we would never have an unlimited supply of cheap, plentiful energy.
Now we need to shore up our critical mining industry, mainly by thwarting environmental groups (funded by Chynna). They are hellbent on crushing our ability to take the lead here.
How did this happen despite Clinton and Obama and Bush, all globalists?
What if there is no cure for cancer?
You can't even go to a NFL game on Sunday unless you have $500 for a ticket even though your taxes paid for the brand new stadium.
Now you see why the DSA has an argument even though it is obvious that their solution for the "problem" is wrong.
Wait until Elon’s space based data centers creates the next industrial revolution
“The US economy remains robust but in a way it’s crony capitalism. The majority of the population is not benefiting from the economic growth we are experiencing right now because we do not have the right skills or connections to prosper from it.”
WRONG!
We replaced factory jobs with Walmart jobs.
Cancer vaccines have already been just developed from AI.
Should be out soon.
,,, yeah, there's plenty of US companies in this sector. The question I have is - how can the same sector's progress in China be measured? There could be one or two big scalers that are outperforming there and only they would know. I ask this because China's fewer AI companies [for example] are pretty much turning out effective results cheaper than the US is. The Chinese want to brag about that and there's an appetite for their products - but with GE they're going to tell the world nothing because there are military drivers, not just agricultural and health ones.
Cheap electric vehicles are turning up in markets worldwide because of very heavy Chinese government subsidies for manufacturers. I doubt the same concessions are being witheld from cutting edge AI and GE initiatives.
People are making more and keeping more thanks to things like no tax on tips and Social Security. Things like NFL games cost more because that's how much people are willing to pay for tickets.
Plus Musk is building a new solar panel in Texas costing $10 billion to employ another 9,000 workers.
Plus Musk is building a huge new Optimus factory also in Texas to build huge numbers of Optimus humanoid robots, to employ even more thousands of highly paid workers.
Etc etc.

advancements do continue. This company stock doubled overnight.

Moderna (in partnership with Merck/MSD).
theguardian.com
Their personalized mRNA-based cancer vaccine (intismeran autogene / mRNA-4157 / V940), combined with Merck’s Keytruda (pembrolizumab), has been highlighted in recent clinical trial results for high-risk melanoma (stage IIB–IV after surgical removal). Phase 2 data and a positive Phase 3 interim readout (announced around August 2026) showed it significantly reduced the risk of cancer recurrence or death (about 49% in longer follow-up) and distant metastasis compared with Keytruda alone.
scientificamerican.com
Researchers and coverage have described it as offering “real hope” for curing melanoma or increasing the chance of long-term disease control/cure by training the immune system against a patient’s specific tumor mutations (neoantigens). It is an adjuvant therapy aimed at preventing return after surgery rather than treating active widespread disease, and it is not yet fully approved as a cure—full data, regulatory review, and longer follow-up are still needed.
theguardian.com
This stands out as the prominent recent company-linked claim involving a potential major advance toward better long-term outcomes or cure for melanoma. Other therapies (e.g., checkpoint inhibitors like nivolumab + ipilimumab, TIL therapy from Iovance, or oncolytic viruses from Replimune) have also produced durable remissions that some experts describe as functional cures in subsets of patients, but Moderna/Merck’s mRNA approach has drawn the strongest recent “hope for cure” framing tied to a specific company announcement. Always consult medical professionals for individual advice, as no universal cure exists yet.
Ending the H-1B visa would be a game changer. Stop importing STEM workers PERIOD.
Stop all immigration and let wages go up.
And I'm in support of that except that our taxes are paying for all the new stadiums that are being built right now.
If we are already paying for it, at least we should be getting cheaper tickets.
“Plus Musk is building a new solar panel in Texas costing $10 billion to employ another 9,000 workers.”
Should read:
“Plus Musk is building a new solar panel FACTORY in Texas costing $10 billion to employ another 9,000 workers.
