The long-running south Minneapolis cafe that transitioned to a donation-based payment system earlier this year is temporarily closing its doors. Modern Times introduced its donation-based model and changed its name to Post Modern Times in late January. The move came in response to Operation Metro Surge and the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal immigration agents.

The cafe sits in Minneapolis’ Powderhorn neighborhood, one of areas that was most impacted by the federal immigration crackdown. After agents withdrew from Minnesota, owner Dylan Alverson turned the 15-year-old business into a nonprofit. For the past six months, Post Modern Times has relied on entirely on donations to fund its operations, while offering free meals to community members who need assistance. But the cafe announced a temporary closure on Instagram earlier this week, citing a need for “some time to rest, fix our constantly breaking infrastructure, and take time to make some system and organizational changes that we feel will help bring us to a more balanced cafe that everyone can enjoy.” …

The neutralizing of Alex and Renee was pretty good in my book.

So they didn’t have any prices and relied on donations, but now need to shut down for a while because they need to make organizational changes. Any bet that one of those changes is to reinstitute prices because donations were not remotely keeping up with costs due to people not “donating” a sufficient amount for their food?

I wonder how many of their donations came from people whose income was from NGOs or other “nonprofits”? There are so many fraudulent and corrupt organizations, formerly funded by taxpayers. Hopefully they have been exposed and eliminated.

The donations would cover the expenses if only the employees weren't stealing from the donation jar.

What a bunch of douchebag dorks.

My question is, why are they keeping any money for themselves? That would be selfish and capitalistic.

Well. I guess they have to pay somehow for those iPhones (corporate), Nike sneakers (corporate) and Internet Access via Verizon (corporate).

I had to look: this is what the dummy looks like:

Figures.

He said:
"..."I was there shortly after both those incidents and saw the actions of Border Patrol and ICE," Alverson said. "It shook me. It was horrifying and to think that we are still under this occupation and that it will still continue for an unknown amount of time, I couldn't go back to running my business as it was... going back and working to create capital and pay tax for federal and state governments that aren't protecting their citizens. So I am trying to avoid that right now until something changes..."

I am rooting for him to keep his "business" open.

The more money he sinks into it, the faster he will go broke, and the fewer box lunches he can make for the criminals trying to destroy this nation with their sedition.

As an added benefit, the money he sponges off of others for his "cause" is less money they can contribute to the violence and illegality. Here's to hoping the guy grinds himself to a nub trying to keep going.

I think he already ran out of ‘donations.’ If he comes back it won’t be free anymore. Liberal dumbsh*ttery at its finest, meets reality.

He looks like what Rob Reiner’s meathead character first looked like on All in the Family - a dirty, worthless hippy.

the cafe has served more than 30,000 meals with the help of more than 2,000 donations,

interesting statistic that doesn’t tell you much

I would be lost if postmodernists weren’t around to provide such scintillating content as this:

I have thought about this, and he was willing to virtue signal up to the point where it made it difficult for him to fill the tank on his car with the evil petroleum, or pay for cable television from the Verizon corporation...or...even pay his taxes and risk having his property seized by the evil government he wants to overthrow.

If he was really dedicated and not just virtue signaling, he would have continued running himself into a ditch.

Slacker!
