UK Historian Blasts Hegseth, Chides 'Little People' Who Oppose Migration

British historian Simon Schama has condemned U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over his D-Day address while deriding the “little people” who oppose mass migration into Europe.

Marking the 82nd anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy in a speech delivered at the American military cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, Secretary Hegseth painted a contrast between the “Greatest Generation” which overcame the evils of Nazi Germany, and the modern West, which he warned has, at least in part, become “comfortable” and under the misaprehension that “empty slogans” and “lavish summits” will preserve peace and stability in Europe.

Following the example of other senior Trump administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Hegseth took the opportunity of his trip to the old continent to warn its leaders of the perils looming from the mass migration policies imposed on their citizens by politicians.

“Sadly, today, different European beaches are stormed by different dangerous ideologies,” Hegseth said. On the “beaches in Spain and Italy and Greece and Bulgaria, boats and men arrive,” he said. “When will European capitals do something about that invasion? Or is it too late?”

The comments from the Secretary, as with other critiques of Europe’s adherence to open borders ideology from the Trump government, sparked a wave of — at least feigned — outrage from the globalist left commentariat across the pond. Among them was popular British historian Sir Simon Schama, who has long advocated for the importation of millions of foreigners, often citing his own Jewish family’s experiences in diaspora as foundational to his thinking.

Responding on social media to Hegseth’s speech, the Citizens author said: “This is a special kind of loathsomeness: a blend of historical deafness , grotesque stupidity, and comically ludicrous self- importance."

Schama has boasted that his life had been personally improved by mass migration, saying last year that it is “such a pleasure that there’s a Persian cafe around the corner from my flat in London.”

Um, these do exist...

.......comically ludicrous self- importance.

The loathsome historian is talking about himself. How some random "historian" compares himself to the Secretary of War of the USA astounds me. Well, he is an academic, and most seem to think themselves the most important person in their own universe.

Said the little leftist with Henry Nowak’s blood on his hands:

“On April 1, 2016, Schama participated in a Munk Debate concerning what was being called a global refugee crisis at the time, arguing alongside Louise Arbour in favour of the resolution that Western nations have a moral imperative to accept a large influx of refugees.”

So a non Englishman in England argues in favor of England allowing itself to be the dumping ground of the world to the point that the English are replaced in their own homeland. Of course, being a Jew, his people have an ethnic homeland of their own which their people control and which very much does not have open borders.

I'm not one of these Jew hating Leftists. I'm staunchly pro Israel. Eff Palestine by the way. That said, I've heard several on the right both in the US and especially in Europe point this out....that it is especially hypocritical for Jews in the West who support Israel to champion open borders for Western countries. I guess other people have no right to preserve their homeland for themselves....only Jews. People like Simon Schama and Melania Philips and others need to sit down and think carefully about their position here. Its untenable. You can't say your people deserve to be protected but nobody else does. That is not going to fly. Not with anyone. Keep that up and you will make enemies of the Right which is not wise given how much the Left already hate Jews....not just Israel but Jews. If you want the rest of us to support your people's right to their homeland, you can't tell us our people have no right to our homelands.

Interesting how a supposed ‘intellectual’ who is advocating for ‘acceptance’ and respect of others calls people he disagrees with “little people”. Sounds quite boorish and taken with himself.

He credits a more liberal/open policy in the UK toward immigration with saving many Jews from the Holocaust and benefitted Britain because many of them became productive, patriotic citizens. He argues an even more open policy toward those fleeing persecution would have saved more and helped Britain even more. I agree with him about that. I disagree when he then says Britain (and the West) should have that policy today. The difference is those Jews fleeing Nazi persecution in the past were civilized, productive, Westerners. They were not uneducated Muslim and African savages filled with contempt for the locals. They also weren't overwhelmingly military age males. Rather they were families. That is an enormous difference he doesn't want to acknowledge.

WHO you let in makes all the difference.
