This fellow is saying some needful things that I agree with. Accent is difficult, though.

The Sikh religion played a direct role behind the killing
of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak in Southampton Dec 2025.

The case is inextricably linked to Sikhism through the misuse of a
religious article and the actions of the perpetrator.-—— South China Morning Post

Here is a breakdown of the role of Sikhism in this case: The killer, 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa, used a 21cm (8-inch) blade, which he claimed was a kirpan (a ceremonial dagger worn by initiated Sikhs as a religious obligation).-—— BBC

Prominent Sikh organizations in the UK, including the Sikh Federation UK, strongly condemned the killing, stating that Digwa’s actions violated the tenets of the faith and that the weapon used was significantly larger than a standard kirpan.-—— South China Morning Post

Judge William Mousley noted that while Digwa was a member of a Sikh order that allows for carrying a second, visible blade (Nihang), the killing was not a strict requirement of the faith. ———BBC

The incident has led to Sikh leaders reporting that
the Sikh community has been “demonised” following the murder. ——— The Independent

Sikh community leaders have insisted that Digwa’s “weapon obsession” and his actions are not representative of their faith or the law-abiding community.

I have (yet another) dumb question:

Why not simply forbid that their knives be sharpened? Since they are ceremonial there is no need for them to have an edge.

There’s a lot to understand in this. Indeed this man is saying the right things.

The Sikh’s carry their “ceremonial” knives due to their history in the Indian subcontinent (particularly Punjab) that as a minority, they will not be bullied - by Muslims. South Asian Islam has been at war with Sikhs for nearly the entire Sikh history.

Its not a perfect analogy, but Sikhs view their Kirpan knife as a kind of Indian 2nd Amendment-style right to self-protection (again, mostly from Muslims)

Personally, I find Sikhs the most reasonable, relatable, and accepting of the various religions and ethnicities one meets in South Asia. This is due to the teachings of their religion.

While their behavior is far better than Muslims, its yet another cultural-clash that marxist-woke UK govt has brought upon the British people with their multi-culti and open-borders social-engineering.

Why not simply forbid that their knives be sharpened?

Most of them carry small and even plastic ones that are not sharpened.

A few years ago, a nutjob broke into a Sikh temple in Wisconsin and started to shooting. The leader, to his credit, stepped into the mix with a useless ceremonial knife and was easily killed by the gunman, but I believe he bought time for his people to leave.

Sikh were always noted for being exceptional wingmen for the Brits during the colonial time in India. Everything I have heard about them suggests the natural virtues or honor and loyalty. Many of them have no use for Muslims.

Give me a dull 8 inch fighting knife, I’ll use it as a weapon if needed.

They should receive zero special weapon privileges in Britain.

The Sikh blade—a kirpan—is meant to be used.....its usage strictly defined by Sikh guidelines.

The knife is not considered a mere decorative item, it is considered an article of faith,
a commitment to promoting justice, and “maintaining self-respect.”—Source: Sikh Coalition

I am a follower of ‘Gunism’. My religion requires that I carry a gun wherever I go.

If my “cross” is used as a bludgeon, as a mace to crush an innocent man’s skull, but the police released me be ause I am a black female transvestite, I am still a murderer.

Every damned thing is a weapon. A toothpick can be a deadly weapon. So can a shoelace or a joint of bamboo.

Probably never. There’s a proximate cause issue. Handcuffing him was heinous and callous, but you have to prove that had he not been handcuffed and instead received immediate care, he would not have died. Not happening. If only he were a black druggy with a record.

Some Brits need to start a new religion that requires initiates to always carry a .45 ACP 1911 pistol, fully loaded, cocked & locked.

Because tradition. 1911s have been around for a while.

Agreed.

My experience is good with Sikhs, though limited - because in fact they are so few in number. But one of my best pals in college was a Sikh man. He was a pip, annd we ended up anlways transferring to the same colleges in the same general major. I learned a bit about “how to distinguish”. They’re not Moslems, they always have tight, neat pointed turbans whereas Moslem men are all over the place including looking dirty and disheveled. They’re also more likely to smile whereas Moslems are always looking angry and depressed.

Since they are ceremonial there is no need for them to be made of metal at all. Why wouldn't plastic or rubber knives serve this ceremonial purpose just as well?

Either that or everyone in the UK should have the right to carry metal knives.
