According to Eurostat 2024 data on non-EU citizens found illegally present in the EU (919k total, the metric in that video), Syrians from war-torn Syria were the largest group at 140,500 (~15%). Numbers from other war-torn MENA countries (Iraq, Yemen, Libya) are far smaller and not in the top 4. Algerians (~6%, North Africa) and others like Bangladeshis/Egyptians dominate many routes for economic reasons. Overall from war-torn MENA: roughly 15-20%.

Many of the illegal stays are from economic migrants in stable (though poorer) countries like Algeria (~6%), Turkey, Morocco, Bangladesh, and Egypt. Syria + Afghanistan (both war-torn) total ~22% (200k out of 919k). Iraq, Yemen, and Libya aren't even top 4 and add far less. So war zones drive under a quarter overall.
