A local Kentucky newspaper published an opinion article accusing Republican Senate candidate Daniel Cameron, who is black, of being a race traitor.
The Louisville-based newspaper, the Courier Journal, published a piece by contributor Ricky L. Jones titled “Daniel Cameron is KY’s saddest Republican Senate candidate,” which included a subheadline calling him “the polished corporate spokesman for anti-Black backlash politics.”
Jones alleged Cameron’s campaign message is, “Don’t worry, I’ll protect the White status quo in Kentucky and beyond.”

Jones calls Cameron the “most shameful” and “saddest” of the Republican candidates, whom he describes as a “wretched band.” He further characterizes Cameron as a “frequent MAGA darling” and suggests that whites are uncomfortable at the idea of “the mounting Black menace.”
Jones is currently a professor and the chair of the Department of Pan-African Studies at the University of Louisville, according to the university’s website.
The piece accuses Cameron — Kentucky’s first Black statewide elected official — of racial betrayal, claiming he “functions with a level of sneering anti-Black racial venom and self-hate that would make Samuel L. Jackson’s Stephen proud.”
Jackson’s character in “Django Unchained,” Stephen, was a house slave who was loyal to his white master and served as the film’s secondary antagonist.
Jones goes on to compare the GOP Senate candidate and former state attorney general to a “Black servant who betrayed his brothers,” citing Cameron’s opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and his support for President Donald Trump.
The piece further states that Cameron is “the type of lost whitewashed soul that Harriet Tubman left behind because he has no desire to be free. He is a Black man who hates Black people and takes every opportunity to prove it to his masters. He should be ashamed, but doesn’t have sufficient conscience, self-awareness or self-love to feel so.”
Cameron responded to the opinion piece in a statement to the Daily Caller, accusing the left of hating black Republicans.
“There is a special type of hatred the radical left has for Republicans that look like me, and here you have it on full display. I don’t fit in their neat little box of oppression and so for years, they’ve called me every name in the book — tried to define me, shame me, and silence me — all because I support President Trump and conservative values,” Cameron told the Caller.
I’m proud to support President Trump. He’s endorsed me twice, and not once has he ever cared about the color of my skin.
The White House made clear this was an accident. You didn’t hear anything from the media when the left ran these about me. What the White House did was… pic.twitter.com/qfJ2ebZjpJ

“The reality is simple. My mind is my own, and I don’t need permission from anyone to speak freely or think for myself,” Cameron added. “I will never apologize for not sharing the belief set of radical Marxists just because of how I look.”
In response to Jones’ opinion piece published Tuesday in the Courier Journal, a University of Louisville spokesperson told the Daily Caller that “his comments do not represent the university’s views,” adding that the school does not monitor what he says “as a private citizen.”
“Dr. Jones is not a spokesman for the University of Louisville, and his comments do not represent the university’s views. UofL does not censor the opinions of its faculty, staff or students and does not monitor what Dr. Jones says in his capacity as a private citizen,” the spokesperson said.
The Courier Journal has the highest recorded circulation of any newspaper in Kentucky.
The Caller reached out to the Courier Journal for comment but did not receive a response prior to publication.

I just saw that earlier. If you want to see genuine, real racism - that was what the Courier-Journal published. Sick and disgusting garbage:
This is a public post, you don’t need a Facebook account to see it.
Sounds like Ricky L Jones wants to send out Sambo and Quimbo to beat that uppity republican black.
BUT BUT BUT. Barrack and Moochelle faces were on monkeys in a parody cartoon.
There is no limit - none at all - to the nastiness the MSM feels justified in using in connection with conservatives, white or black. The most vile, racist, toxic, murderous rhetoric is allowed.
That reminds me, St. Bre's Blamiversary is coming up.
Yes indeed. It is vile and disgusting. Daniel Cameron is being targeted and attacked specifically for his skin color - how is that not racist?
You folks are missing something. Cameron will not become a senator. He won’t even become the nominee. As a state atty. general I see no reason for him to not succeed Clarence Thomas. Watch the left have a cow over it.
That’s why King Hakeem Skyhook, follows Schumer around with a roll of toilet paper. He doing the job his illegal aliens don’t want to do anymore.
That will remain to be seen, but what does that even have to do with what is being discussed here?
He means the left would be even more
apoplectic over a potential SCOTUS appointment resulting in more invective from them.
Birg is right. Cameron should quit while he’s behind. Couldn’t win the governorship. By being a lesser candidate he gives the cowards on the left the go ahead to pile on.
I used to read the C J when I was in high school. It has always been a left wing hack rag. Fortunately, I also read the Indianapolis Star, the Chicago Tribune, and the Wall Street Journal. The Indianapolis Star actually endorsed Barry Goldwater back then.
“Race traitor” is one of those phrases invented by the NAZIs.
I think he should top Trump’s list of Supreme Court nominees. Let’s start praying for a liberal opening.
