A year ago, few Americans knew Gregory Bovino’s name. Now he’s the face of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
And everything from the Border Patrol commander-at-large’s tactics in the field to his wardrobe choices have become lightning rods in a storm with no end in sight.
On the streets of multiple American cities, Bovino – sporting a buzzcut and the Border Patrol’s olive green uniform – has been spotted leading patrols, hurling tear gas canisters and verbally sparring with critics. He often stands out among groups of federal officers as one of the few people not wearing a mask.
On social media, he’s known for sharing photos and cinematic videos that tout Border Patrol agents’ determination to carry out their mission.
And now, his presence at the podium and on screens around the world is becoming more common as he delivers briefings from Minneapolis.

He’s a hero to the republic. Same as Homan.
I think he’s one of the heroes of this era. and I hope he survives it with the rest of the American people.
And CNN is the mouthpiece to the enemies of America who want to destroy it from within.
I watched the Sunday press conference...
Chief Bovino stated that the illegal from Ecuador escaped...He is out there somewhere...He stated that agents were too busy dealing with the nurse...
That illegal alien has criminal records for assault...Probably beating up wife or girlfriend...
The nurse was willing to fight with agents so that illegal alien could escape...
Chief Bovino did a good job at the press conference...He refused to answer specific questions from reporters about the nurse shooting...He stated that the investigation has to be conducted...The investigation would involve more than videos...

The video of him with the teargas canister was great.
He said “I’m gonna gas you....gas is coming....Do you need the gas?...OK, here is comes.
His press conference yesterday was all about making choices. Pretti had lots of choices to make. He made the wrong one and it cost him.
He’s a hero to the republic. Same as Homan.
