My understanding is that the Secession process is almost impossible to get through. What is might do is give Alberta some leverage. The leftists have been standing on Alberta’s neck for years maybe this could give them some autonomy.

Don’t push for that. If they want Independence, let them go with that. We can provide protection for them. Albertans don’t want to trade old masters for new. Look at their literature. It is NOT about joining the U.S. They point out that they have as much land and people as Ireland, but a lot more wealth (that Ottawa steals). While they would be okay on guns, a lot of them are still attached to socialized medicine. Our present bastard system isn’t that much better. They would likely abandon MAiD, at least. They are happy to have us as their 88% trade partner, and to route and oil for export through Montana, Idaho, and Washington rather than B.C.

Nope. There is a Supreme Court decision (regarding Quebec) that means that Ottawa would have to negotiate in good faith.

Also note: Crown land belongs to the Province, NOT Ottawa. The Inuit are raising a legal challenge, but treaties from the 1930s would mean that they retain their rights as Albertans, but cannot keep Alberta from seceding. (This is a mater of controversy, but the plain reading appears to be on the Albertans side). I believe tax collection is also at the provincial level. In some ways Canada has more decentralization to the provinces than we do to the states.
