(okay, so, I didn’t know Lenovo owned Motorola, or at least its phones division. Brave search AI sez, “Lenovo acquired Motorola Mobility from Google in 2014 for $2.91 billion, making Motorola a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chinese technology giant.”)

I have absolutely no need for a phone that big

I found the last Motorola phone that I had was very cheaply made.

Apple needn’t worry. The Fold is still Android, and Apple users have bought in to iOS, not Android, and won’t be easily changed. If Musk’s non-Android Linux-based satellite phone ever comes out, THAT would be a challenge.

Apple users accept that Apple will eventually come out with a foldable. They’ll wait. Samsung might worry, though.

Apple should never be worried. Ever.

I can tell you for my Apple addicted relatives, nothing will tear them away.

Foldable huh? Have never gone in a phone store for any company where the workers didn’t immediately tell me the folding phones are a problem.

People don’t want the format even though it sounds like a good idea.

If it were truly durable I’d be very interested. I keep my phones about 10 years. I still have my IPhone X from 2018. Works great. All my friends with androids change out every 2-3 years.

lol I change my Samsung because I want the new model.

The last crop of Samsung (the 25+) and my wife’s new Iphone are the first time I’ve truly been happy with the performance of the phones.

Finally fast charging, long battery life, quick start up and fast internet.

I would carry something the size of an iPad Mini, because a larger screen is better with my failing eyesight, but alas, the only phablets have been low-quality android crap. I have one, but I couldn’t get the cheap mobile phone provider to activate it. Apple needs to integrate its iPad and iPhone lines, period, but won’t until their iPad sales finally decline. IMHO, the iPad is a useless product without voice service.

The most recent “Samsung has solved the crease problem” video was amusing, because the crease was plainly visible instantly in every shot. Dunno about durability, but it would be annoying at best to pay that much for one of these foldables and have it immediately look (and presumably feel) like that.

Ironically, Apple’s biggest issue is too much success. Upgrades to cameras are slower with Apple because the supply chain can’t crank out high-quality parts in sufficient quantities.

I love my Samsung 25-Ultra...although I still prefer the curved glass side of my 2 previous Samsung “edge” models.

Screen clarity, resolution and battery life is super, too

Apple’s foldable is coming out supposedly this year, but its screen supplier is going to be Samsung. Unless S is adding capacity, it’s difficult to believe that a big uptick in sales is expected.

Apple intro’d the iPhone Air last year, and reportedly Samsung pulled the plug on its own ultrathin upgrade plans (they have an ultrathin) around that same time. Apple had great initial sales in China, and apparently nowhere else.

One rumor / speculation is that the Air was a test dangle to test the ultrathin format, because that’s required for the foldable.

Samsung’s move apparently is this Galaxy Trifold, I think that got intro’d at CES.

Samsung will be happy to get the screen sales, but selling screens in bulk to Apple is half conceding the high-end/high margin portion of the market.

The simple answer... Nope!

Apple leads the phone market and will continue to do so until something better comes along... The Razr phone is not a superior product... Period!

Dave2D is more of an Android and gaming guy, but his YT presentation style is pretty much perfect. He (and Brian Tong) put all the “subscribe” harangues at the very end, the last few seconds of each vid. He also gets right to the point. Nothing is a bigger waste of time than listening to some joker telling me what the video is going to be about, since that’s right in the freakin’ title.

Or it’s not, because there isn’t enough content to fill up the eight minutes to get monetized, so the headline story (which is often a disappointment with such folks) follows a series of other useless stories.

Anyway, I don’t do gaming, or Android, but he’s one of the very best tech vid guys on YT. He’s from Canada I think.
