A newly introduced bill that would bar former Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from working in state and local law enforcement in Illinois is sparking intense debate, with supporters calling it a necessary accountability measure and critics warning it could worsen police shortages and undermine public safety.
State Sen. Laura Fine, D-Glenview, who is also running for Congress, announced the legislation in a social media video this week, saying it was prompted by recent immigration enforcement actions she described as violent and intimidating.

Left-wing communities get the crime rates they deserve. Watch NYC collapse over the next 6 months.
Intense debate in IL is for show. The bill will pass and Governor Lardass will sign it.
Laura Fine -D isturbed
I see future supreme court action should lardass sign it into law.
Why the hell would they want a job in Illinois? Our state is a liberal shit hole.
Can’t see how it’s constitutional - I think SCOTUS will have the final say...
They could also set up separate water fountains for ICE agents and separate schools for their kids.
I live on the Indiana/Illinois border and will do all I can to avoid setting foot in Illinois.
Some of the highest property taxes in the country. Maybe the highest.
You’re probably right about that, if ICE agents really, really, really want to live in one of the most high tax states in the country. Affordability? Ha!
That is not enough punishment.
The Leftists must be removed from all positions of authority.
This seems discriminatory. The irony of course is ICE are police
State Sen. Laura Fine, D-Glenview must be a Walz club member?.
No reason to be a cop in a DemocRAT run state. The crime is part of the bargain. Let the ICE agents who become cops go to red states where they’ll be respected and actually be able to do their jobs (keeping DemocRATZ out of our good states).
Other YouTube short videos show different ICE agents in court being repremanded by a judge. The faces of the judge and agent are different but the uniforms, robes, and settings are the same.
These examples, and a gazillion more on a wide range of topics, make YouTube short videos essentially unbelievable.
If passed, the law would be mostly symbolic. Further down in the article a retired cop who is now in the state house mentions that most local police go to the feds and not the other around unless they retire from the feds.
A retired fed may want to come back to an Illinois state or local LEO job if they had a vested pension and left the money in system when they left for the fed job.
That’s discrimination, basing their eligibility on a specific job they previously held and not on the quality of their service in that job.
Did you ever notice the most “unaffordable” cities are also the most violent.
