Only 34% of students in the Saint Paul School District are meeting grade-level reading standards.

Maybe they should focus on teaching kids to read instead of teaching them how to protest for leftist causes

BREAKING: Students from Saint Paul Public Schools in Mn left class to march in an anti-ICE protest, saying they want to "get rid of ICE" and that "no one is illegal on stolen land."

Some students admitted to warning illegals online to stay home and avoid ICE, while others compare ICE to Nazis. https://x.com/i/status/2011559233301725199

Back in the 80’s state leaders used to refer to Minnesota as “the brain power state”.

I think I found the problem 👇

“Minnesota Public Schools Changes Rules To Lay Off White Teachers Before Minorities
Policy ‘openly discriminates against white teachers based only on the color of their skin,’ lawyer says”

34% is higher than expected.

I would have guessed it would be near Baltimore levels of stupidity.

You’re assuming that educating the children is part of their agenda. It isn’t. Indoctrination is. Parents: Get involved in your schools.

The kids can’t read but the teachers are making bank without having to produce anything for it. If only a third of the kids are reading at grade level why aren’t the teachers docked two thirds of their pay. Seems fair to me.

So they can’t even read at grade level - but they’re educated enough to know that ICE=Nazi.

Sounds like brainwashing to anyone with a functioning brain cell.

And we all thought there was only one Quality Learing Center. Apparently, Minnesota is full of them.

Minnesota students are just not very smart these days. The schools need more money to teach dumb students.

The students are too busy dreaming about starting up a daycare when they graduate high school.

Maybe they should focus on teaching kids to read

That sort of presumes that the teachers know how to read ...

All over the country the reading levels have been down for a long time. The mandatory education legislation in the early 1800s was supposed to supply the informed, educated populace to vote in elections.

Now that’s a dream out of reach.

A landmark case in New York City:

“New York State abandoned the Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST) for teacher certification in 2017, a move driven by significant disparities where Black and Hispanic candidates passed at much lower rates than white candidates, leading to accusations of discrimination and concerns that the test was an unnecessary hurdle.”

So kids can’t read well enough to grow up to vote intelligently or get a good job or compare the items in a supermarket but at least there isn’t discrimination in the teaching segment.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
