Maybe AI can make new rock songs sound like the old school rock bands that actually practiced their backup vocals.
Don’t think it is that good
But see your point
What AI can do is essentially create demos you can then get real musicians to record.
So basically going forward, I am going to assume every song was written using AI, until proven otherwise, even if recorded by real musicians.
There are a lot of AI-generated songs that sound from the 50s and 60s with raunchy lyrics added.
AI can “trial and error” a lot faster than a human can.
The music today all sounds like AI, little new or impressive at all.
Maybe AI can make memorable songs. One of the hottest acts today is Taylor Swift who has released over 270 songs...I can’t name a single one.
Exactly, it’s not as if the quality has dropped. Isn’t Autotune a form of AI, anyway? And that’s been around for years.
Especially “Country”.
All the good pop and rock music has been made.
It’s like Classical Music, who listens to any Classical music composed after 1900?
Especially “Country”.
Bad rock with a fiddle. - Tom Petty
Yep, and I don't tire of listening to the pre 1990 "catalog" one bit.
And thanks to YouTube, I’ve discovered a lot of great music from the 60s and 70s I never heard before.
If you haven’t heard it before, it’s new to you!
And it's unique
I can’t wait for the first Grammy awarded to AI. I am going to laugh until I pee myself…
To be fair to new songs in the old songs vs new songs debate, the old songs were filtered down to just a few songs promoted by a few record companies. Today there are many outlets promoting many new songs (which is a good thing to give more musicians a chance to be heard). But today with all the available clutter of many new songs, it's hard for listeners to focus on a few songs enough for them to become memorable, like we did back when there were only a few new songs coming out at a time, so we focused on them.
The same thing with old TV shows being more memorable when there were just a few stations to choose from. It's not just that I hate the woke in new TV shows. It's also that there's so many outlets to choose from for entertainment that I may be watching different shows from my friends and we won't talk about them like we did when we all watched the same old shows.
Answer:
Because it finally stopped believing the road was dangerous and realized the cage was.
Your move, Socrates.
