Atlantic Magazine Profile of Gavin Newsom Chock Full of Gettys

Is The Atlantic magazine trying to send its readers a not so secret message? Although it's profile of California Governor Gavin Newsom by Helen Lewis on Tuesday, "The Front-Runner," was generally positive it was also chock full of Gettys as in the oil fortune family of patriarch J. Paul Getty.

In fact the name "Getty" was so important in Newsom's personal, business, and political background that it appeared a total of 22 times in the article (including the Getty Images attributions of five of the photos used). Although a Republican presidential hopeful so attached to a family whose fortune was based on oil would be savaged for the connection, with Newsom it seems to be okay because of the magic (D) by his name.

The Getty name first comes up when Lewis apparently irritates Newsom by mentioning it in a discussion about his memoir due to be published in February:

Never has there been a presidential candidate so complete owned by a corporate family. The closest might have been LBJ by Brown and Root Construction but other corporate entities also owned him, not just one as completely as Newsom is beholden to the Getty family who complete made him from the get-go.

if the Atlantic (which, unlike several other “progressive” type rags has on occasion published some informative, pretty good quality articles in and amidst its usual commie-leftist bullkrap)....

if they think Newsom is the DNC “frontrunner” they are either high on drugs or else being paid off to publish such ridiculous rubbish (by the very interests they so patently associate him with?)

I don’t know who the DNC frontrunner might be (at this early stage, it probably doesn’t matter much anyway), but if the DNC were to select Newsom he would be SO easily beatable (in anything remotely resembling a fair, unrigged election — can we maybe get one?)... All the opponent candidate’s campaign would need do is run some video clips of California’s streets...winos, bums, beggars, druggies, corpses, fecal matter, garbage ......these videos are all over the internet for free.... Los Angeles, Oakland, San Fransicko, even Sacramento, Fresno, ...
AND give some publicity to the California Train TO Nowhere and the longstanding (pre-dates Newsom by a long time) corrupt utilities “regulation” and how California state regulators are now chasing all the energy production and gasoline refineries out, to close down...driving energy and gas prices up through the roof

oh yeah, check out the 30 and 40 percent price inflation at the grocery and diners

and how the state and city of LA sat back while whole neighborhoods burned to the ground (some didn’t even have water supply in the fire hydrants)

Newsom is sitting on the worst case example of governmental administration in many years

it would not be difficult defeating him. My bet is that the DNC knows this (they’re not stupid) and will find or create a saleable candidate, one without such a disasterous record (political baggage, as it is said), one who has not shot hisher mouth off alienating voters... and one who will TAKE ORDERS, of course. Maybe someone from the sports industry?
or?
