Chrystia Freeland just got named the economic adviser for Ukraine by President Zelenskyy.
This is the same Chrystia Freeland who wrecked Canada’s finances so badly she quit before delivering her own budget triggering Trudeau’s resignation.

Ukraine before the war (and likely now) was the most corrupt country in all of Europe. She can’t make it any worse.

I am no big fan of Freeland but two things, judging somebody by their grandparents’ conduct seems a little stale-dated, and Canada is far from being “destroyed” as I just read. I would say it’s in better shape than most countries right now.
Things are not perfect by any means but Canada is probably a safer place to live than most parts of your country and some of the more exaggerated claims being made appear to me to have an origin in DC think tanks where ideologues are trying to form a foundation for annexation of Canada and taking over our resource base. That’s not going to happen and those think tanks are wasting their time with their elaborate stories. I see these as attempts to push the president towards action that he would regret and that would probably create a pushback factor for the chances of a MAGA win in 2028 so I hope this administration is not fooled into going down that road.
As for Freeland becoming an advisor, fine, it gets her out of our hair and Zelensky is going to need advice now that the ATM has closed down. Maybe he will even get some good advice, Canada has very sound financial foundations unlike quite a few couontries in Europe.
