The Minnesota Somali fraud scandal somehow manages to get worse and worse as the legacy media mostly ignore the issue and Democrats shrug. At the heart of this scandal lies the larger crisis facing the West.
On Friday, independent journalist Nick Shirley released a 42-minute YouTube documentary detailing his efforts to undercover what exactly is going on in Minnesota and how a ring of mostly Somali scammers squelched billions of dollars from taxpayers under the noses of Gov. Tim Walz and state authorities.

When Fox News columnist David Marcus went to Minnesota to find out what the feeling was in the state about the whole mess, I think he got to the heart of the matter. He found mostly apathy and indifference from the local liberal voters.
“It’s hard to care much about it when ICE is disappearing Somalis on the streets,” said “Anne,” who David described as a white woman in her mid-30s working in tech. Other people he spoke to had similar feelings.
“Just as neat, necktied Portlanders are happy to step over dead junkies en route to brunch, Minnesotans don’t feel the impact of the fraud connected to the community,” Marcus wrote.
I imagine this apathetic attitude is common among the Democratic Party’s most engaged base voters.
New Deal liberalism is dead. In its place is a warped ideology, a new religion. Many blue state programs have been converted into quasi-religious enterprises, fueling what appears to be virtually unmitigated graft the depth of which we are only beginning to understand.
The government is no longer there to give all Americans a leg up. It’s there to enact an identitarian form of social justice, to sort out the winners and losers of its largesse based on a mystical hierarchy of oppression...

And there it is - outright disgusting spin. It was the Somalis acting alone. No one else was involved.
EVERYONE involved needs to be hauled up on RICO charges and every penny returned.

I read the entire article and was left wondering what is the “larger crisis facing the West”.
What is it?
Oh, so because illegal Somalis are rightly being detained by ICE, we have to let other Somalis run scams that cost billions of our tax dollars. Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.
Apathy is the biggest problem in the country these days, but who cares?
Democrats have their own Somali pirates. The treasure is buried at the DNC.
Only Trump.
The GOP is corrupt.
I think the “social contract” is a big issue here.
Government expects support of all kinds (financial, moral etc) and in return is expected to act as a guardian of the public interest (including a reasonable steward of tax dollars). Government is also supposed to provide equal justice under the law.
At this point the government (for sure in Minnesota) has torn up that contract.
That is the problem. Leaving out the active evil doers seeking the destruction, it is the zombies.
Even though that this particular incident happened in Minnesota, we know that the same thing is happening everywhere.

With the amount of regulation involved here it’s simply not possible that this was done without the oversight of authority. Insurance is just for starters.

I think this is probably his point:

You can take the Somali out of Somalia, but his culture doesn’t change.
This is all horrible news piling on top of horrible news

It is being exposed and dealt with.
In most - all other? - countries it would never see the light of day or any accountability. What country would handle it better?

Imagine Walz being the d candidate for vp and none of this being brought up.

This is the tip of it all. I was involved in doing fraud analysis for a state DHS 25 years ago. The fraud was incredible; some people would get benefits from several states and receive checks in Matamoros. How? Each state handles their own data processing systems for benefits and there is no simple data comparison like looking at duplicate SS#’s from state to state. We put a system together that would analyze various data, and it would basically underwrite the applicant. The system worked so well that we reduced the number of new benefit applicants in one part of the state to the point that the large DHS buildings that initially had 100’s of people sitting waiting for service within 60 days had less than 1/2 a dozen people. What happened? We got fired. Why? Because it worked so well. IMO since then the fraud has been in the trillions.
What do we do? The first thing would be to dump every SS# from every state and simply looks for duplicates and fake social security numbers. If there is a duplicate stop paying benefits. The second thing would be to totally destroy the current “nonprofit” laws in the US. If an entity does not feed, house or clothe humans they cannot be a 501. If that’s no possible require every 501-type entity to post not only their 990 information but also each and every bank account statement detail. All data has to be public and that includes political organizations too. Good luck with any of that:) Why? Because EVERY politician in the US has a “nonprofit” that they launder money through.
Elon Musk, as any typical data guy would, could look at the data and see very easy ways to kill the fraud. But even Musk didn’t understand that if you are even in the Oval Office, you have ZERO power against the system because it’s too big and too organized. The bureaucrats are in on the scams. In the case of the DHS from 25 years ago the people vetting the applicants wanted to clean things up but the folks running the show did not want the fraud discovered because that means their revenue stream is reduced and they are terrified of receiving less money “next year”.
These problems are simple to address and fix, just like the immigration issue, voters’ registration and the list goes on and on. FYI, the immigration problem was started decades ago by NGO’s like The Catholic Charities who went to Mexico and other countries and convinced people to come to the US for free stuff. Free stuff that the Catholic Charities, LaRaza (before name change) and countless other “churches” would go into business handling US government benefits. They were doing what the Somalis just got caught doing decades ago.
The other big thing we need to address is Islam, it needs to be eradicated from the USA.
Nothing will happen because of the greed of people IN government who enrich themselves via fraud. America is broke.
