No, and no. If they were capable of thinking their actions through to the predictable consequences they wouldn’t be Democrats. They don’t have an endgame because they can’t imagine the game might end. They’re theater kids, who think ahead only as far as their next dramatic pose, their next clever sound bite, and their next opportunity to gain a petty advantage over those they see as their rivals and therefore enemies. They live in a world unconstrained by history and “unburdened by what has been,” because they live entirely in the moment.
If they could think seriously about the future, and truly care about anyone other than themselves, they wouldn’t be Democrats.
