Republicans Have a Young Voter Problem
National Review ^ | November 9, 2025 | Becket Adams

Posted on 11/10/2025 2:14:34 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

Millions of words have been devoted to investigating the Democratic Party’s recent “young men” problem, as it has hemorrhaged support from male voters aged 18 to 29.

But on the other side of the aisle is the less-discussed fact that the Republican Party is enduring a more severe version of the Democrats’ demographic crisis: the GOP has lost an even greater share of female voters under 30.

Even less discussed is the fact that while Democrats are struggling, albeit pitifully, to win back young men, the right doesn’t seem to realize the seriousness of its own predicament, much less have a plan to fix it.

I suppose when you’re already used to surrendering voting blocs, as the Republican Party practically has in past elections with black and, to a lesser extent, Jewish voters, losing one more probably feels more a matter of routine than a sign of impending doom. (Indeed, one likely reason that so much more attention has been paid to the Democrats’ loss of young men is that, unlike the GOP, the Democratic Party is not one to lose entire groups of voters.)

Yet, considering that there are eight million more registered female voters than male voters in the United States, and considering that of the overall number of female voters, the 10 percent to 12 percent that fall into the 18-to-29 age bracket are much more politically active than men their age, Republicans cannot afford to accept defeat on this front. Democrats, in some cases, can afford to lose young men and make up the difference with their more politically engaged female counterparts. Republicans have no such cushion.

I think NRO is paid by Democrats to depress the GOP vote and promote democrat candidates. They were so sure Trump couldn’t win last November. Of course, they also worked hard to try to stop him. Thankfully NRO has little influence on conservatives these days.

It’s behind NRO’s paywall, and I’d gouge out my own eyeballs before I’d actually *pay* NRO to read their elitist tripe.

So cut to the chase — exactly how does NRO/Becket Adams wish the grassroots to abandon our principles in their misbegotten attempt to pander to young voters? Do they advocate taking out Orange Man? Anything less would be out of character for the scoundrels.

The only real question is: Why do we always post drivel from the discredited and TDS-infested National Review?

*Everybody* *Always* has a young voter problem.

Namely, that they’re fickle and think everything is so unfair.

It was long ago, but I was young once, too... and “young voters” tend to believe Mommy/Daddy Government should fix it for them.

The thing I tell my kids? And hey - guess what, I came of age in the 70s/80s when inflation was FAR worse than now, but:

1) YOU need to be responsible for YOU.

2) Any path that involves a GOVERNMENT solution is NOT you being responsible for you.

Sucks for elections, but “young voters” always think some cabal is screwing them. I was no different long ago.

We *ARE* saddling them with unsustainable government debt, but that doesn’t excuse YOU from planning for YOU.

NRO is a financial joke.

They are privately held so no financial data is available—but they rely on begging for donations to stay solvent.

If you gave them a million bucks a year to focus on the crisis of the depleting Unicorn population they would probably go for it.

Lol.

Yet they only come out in droves when Trump is on the ballot, which is a big problem as he's never going to be on a ballot again.

It was easier to bring in youth when we were protesting during the Tea Party era. Protesting is visible, protesting is fun(enjoyable), and protesting has components to it that do not just boil down to “complaining”.

There are older conservatives who are distinctly out of touch with reality who sneer at the prospect of going out and getting a mass number of people to hold up home made signs and protest an issue or protest congress on the streets.

Ignoring the fact that the Founding Fathers were protesters themselves and inserted it into the Constitution it is said that they adore, the real world result is that youth want to be hyper-active.

The hyper-active want to go out and protest. We cut off our own noses to spite our faces by being whiners about oh woe is me we have lost the youth while at the same time sneering at active protesting in the streets.

It’s a clear contradiction. Your sneers cost you at least some of the youth. It’s basically a form of FAFO.

Young men vote for Republicans.

When they actually get off their asses to go vote.

All too often, they just sit at home and whine about the 19th Amendment.

Yeah. That's why thousands of young people show up at Turning Point events on college campuses. What is National Review doing about it?

Anyone can point out problems. Offer a solution. As its been said, lead, follow or get out of the way. Time for NR to get out of the way.

Obama created the Life of Julia, a cradle to grave life with a government hand out to females. With DEI and #METOO females have a huge advantage over males. How can we win them back? How about we don’t want them back. The Dems can have them.

The Orwell quote belongs here:
He disliked nearly all women, and especially the young and pretty ones. It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

The effectiveness of the late Charlie Kirk was that he had a great following with young white men. His loss is a problem and other influencers need to arise to get these men to get connected with the political system.

That being said, I am a little skeptical of the data in the article. With regard to New York City, about 12% of the population is Jewish, and another 9% Muslim, both figures not indicating the degree of adherence to the doctrines of the respective faiths. If you look at that mayoral election, it was the large Hispanic and black communities that provided Mandami's margin of victory. Hasidic Jews voted monolithically for Cuomo. White Catholics, and some white Protestant and Orthodox Christians who have not left NYC and are concentrated in Staten Island, southern Brooklyn, parts of Queens, and the Upper East Side of Manhattan, showed a predominant vote for Cuomo with Sliwa in second place. Non-Hasidic Jews and Northeast Asians slightly favored Cuomo.

Aside from the recently gentrified neighborhoods, mostly in Brooklyn and the historically leftist areas such as the Upper West Side, the vote was a clear divide between the remaining white population and the nonwhites, Chinese and Korean Americans excepted. It was not a generational or gender divide as much as it was a racial divide.
