A few months ago, someone left an Amazon review for a Creative Thinking Journal, I created. The review stated that the journal might have been worthwhile if the guided exercises weren’t “specifically about liberal thoughts.”
Huh! I thought. I had no intention of writing a book about creativity for leftists. Many of the creative activities introduced in the guided journal are open-ended and rely on free association, allowing users to add anything they choose without being told what to say or think.
The question nagged at me: Is it even possible to create a book on creativity that isn’t inherently liberal? Isn’t divergent thinking, non-linear thought, reimagining the world, creating new ideas and applications for things — inherently liberal? That doesn’t seem plausible, does it?
Merriam-Webster’s official (and well-liked) online dictionary defines a liberal as “one who is open-minded or not stringent in the maintenance of traditional, or established practices.” Meanwhile, a conservative is defined as “tending or inclined to preserve previously held ideas, conditions, or institutions.”
Those we’d most readily classify as high-achieving “creatives” in modern times — inventors, thinkers, musicians, painters, actors, and writers — are more than often to the left of center when it comes to politics. Take a look at any major political rally’s pop culture “special guests,” and this will become immediately clear. No offense Scott Baio.
However, it’s not just modern variations of such “creatives” that lean left. Just to mention a few, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and Marie Curie — a decent five-person collection in terms of humanity — were also deeply interested in trend-bucking worldviews and lifestyles, expressed in their politics and interests. Many progressive thinkers throughout history were at risk of isolation, jail, and even death for defying the norm.

If creativity is inherently liberal everyone is a liberal.
I’m unique, just like everybody else.
😊
Jordan Peterson addressed this question often as well. Haight was a frequent guest on his podcast.
Peterson often used the OCEAN measure of personality traits:
- openness (O) measures creativity, curiosity, and willingness to entertain new ideas.
- conscientiousness (C) measures self-control, diligence, and attention to detail..
- extraversion (E) measures boldness, energy, and social interactivity..
- agreeableness (A) measures kindness, helpfulness, and willingness to cooperate..
- neuroticism (N) measures depression, irritability, and moodiness.
These categories are not moral judgements - being "open" and "not open" both have advantages and disadvantages.
The modern artist, for example, may be high in "openness" which might stimulate creativity, but they may also lack conscientiousness, which could make them difficult to manage money or live long-term with partners.
No.
The left can’t meme and therefore wants to ban them.
I rest my case.
Creativity is the act of either making something from nothing or recreating it in their own ideology changing it’s purpose. It is the ability to produce new and original ideas or solutions by combining information in imaginative ways. It can manifest as artistic creations, new methods or devices, or novel solutions to problems, big or small. This ability involves thinking differently, seeing connections others might miss, being curious, and challenging conventional wisdom. And like remaking movies in Hollywood, it’s only purpose too many times is for the creator and not humanity as they profess.

“...and a morality based on delayed gratification.” WTH does that mean???
“That’s why liberals can make great artists, but be totally off-base in politics and religion.” How would you explain conservatives and Christians being great artists? I’m sure they are out there. I’m leaning toward No to the question.
I think the arts trends left because on the whole it’s a leftist playground. If everyone you talk to is a leftist especially those whose work you admire the chances are you’re gonna conform to fit in. Beyond that the cancel culture that exists now means expressing anything non leftist can be a big problem.
No, just off the bat, Ray Bradbury comes to mind.
His biographical opening to Fahrenheit 451 and his battles with woke morons who desired to censor his work (or change it to do things like change the sex of characters) for school stage productions is really eye opening.
Robert Heinlein is another; decidedly a classic liberal (which has no relation to modern leftism) in the mold of Patrick Henry.
Exactly. And the left is not remotely “liberal”. They co-opted the word.
They are authoritarian collectivists.
They refuse to watch television.
They trash pick and repurpose almost everything.
They plant, grow, and maintain gardens, keeping their hands in the dirt.
They do not consume factory food, fast food, or processed foods. They make their meal choices based on the real time and ingredients to make it.
They always pack lunches or snacks over buying crap.
They make coffee at home and use a thermos.
They are either working, creating, fixing things, having conversations with their dog or pet,
They never are concerned about what others think of them. Conformity terrifies them.
They talk a lot about how creative they are, but you’ll know them by their fruits.
Stephen King hasn’t written a significant book in decades.
How’s George RR Martin doing with that Game of Thrones book?
Hollywood is churning out nonstop remakes, sequels, adaptations of existing IPs.
It is “left brain/right brain” in action. We really must reconcile left/right, male/female, or our society will collapse.
If this is true, Elon Musk is the hugest lefty on the planet.
Open people are creative, and can be from the left or the right. There are artists on both sides, but the open type that uses common sense are usually on the right. The open types on the left have to march in lock step with the party, and you see artists from Hollywood always make their hatred of the right very audible. That is because Hollywood expects it, and the artist also thinks he will be rewarded for his loyalty. In Hollywood, you have to run with the pack to be very successful.
also, they weren’t loaded down with “toys” and “activities” when they were kids ...
“ I’ve NEVER seen a liberal person hunt or shoot deer.”
He was accusing the one who complained about the wounded deer (me) of being liberal. I have no problem with legitimate hunting.
His accusation was surely misplaced in that regard. I don’t have trouble with deer hunting either. In fact, my neighborhood is overpopulated by dear that should be culled. But, the liberal cry-babies won’t let us.
 Sorry for the mistake.
Those are the only things they’re good at creating.
And perversion.
